Wry neck?

Hey guys, sorry for not responding. I haven’t really been on BYC lately, but now I need some help.

She seemed to be getting better, so I stoped administering the Nutri drench-mistake.
Today she is very weak and super underweight. I don’t think she has been eating or drinking at all and she doesn’t show much interest in doing so.
I really am suspecting mereks because 1. One of her pupils was dialated. 2. I have a suspected mereks patient in the garage that has been sick for a couple months now. The other girl, einstein, has a great appetite and seems happy but she can’t move around well.
I love these girls a lot and I am willing to do nearly anything to help them get well.
I gave Amelia about 7ml if water mixed with nutridrench with a syringe. And also I put the 2 girls together so I can keep an eye on them both and they can keep each other company. Einstein has been alone for a while and I want her to be with another girl.

Sorry if that was confusing. Let me know if you have any suggestions, thoughts, or questions. I’m open to anything at this point

I’m not sure if she’s going to make it though the night. I was holding her to try and get some more fluids in her and she stated plapping and doing literal flips in the air and squawking. I then grabbed her and held her until she calmed down and she started panting with her eyes closed. She wouldn’t take any more fluids. I propped her up with some towels and I turned the lights out to let them hopefully get some rest.

I'm sorry to hear that she has relapsed. You are doing what you can for her.

It sounds like you have some troubles, since you have another one that is sick too.

If you happen to lose either one, getting some testing performed would be a good idea. This will give you information and/or confirmation as to what you are dealing with.
The NC Lab closest to you (if you are still in Boone) is the Northwestern lab at Elkin. http://www.ncagr.gov/vet/ncvdl/ Services are not too expensive compared to other states.

Thank you for the information. I just looked into the testing and it’s not nearly as expensive as I was thinking it would be. Money is very tight right now but I’ll try my best to and it work.
I haven’t checked on them yet but I’m pretty sure Amelia wasn’t strong enough to make it though the night.

Sorry about your chicken being worse. If you do lose her, refrigerate her body in a plastic bag, and ship it or take it to the lab on ice packs early monday morning. If she is still alive when you get home, you could try tube feeding her.

She’s still alive and maybe it’s just me, but I feel like she’s become a bit more alert. She’s super sleepy, but she was looking around a little bit. I gave her 6ml of water.
I don’t think I’m ready to try tune feeding. I want to try tuna and egg before tubing.
She’s giving me a tiny bit of hope, so I am very glad for that. :)

Will she drink at all on her own?
I agree with seeing if she will eat on her own first. Do what you can to try to increase her water intake too.
