I don't want your babies to get hurt but neither do I want the cat to lose its home*** and perhaps be killed
(***unless its people don't take good care of it in which case finding a good home might be an option) I would be devastated if one of my cats ever disappeared (p.s. they don't bother any birds - they love them, actually).
If you can just get through this very short term period till your little ones are big enough that cats won't be tempted to harm them, all should be well. Maybe you could spray the cat with a hose when it comes around so that it decides to spend time elsewhere where its nice and dry
