Ive only got three neighbors withen a half mile so its not like ive killed several lol. We(me and the folks around me) pretty much shoot with out warning. To many coyotes, feral dogs, and others running around. Its not worth them chasing live stock. If I recognize the dog on my farm ill give one verbal warning. Next time its done. My brother had to get rid of his labs. They wouldnt stay put.

That's is what I thought also. I just couldn't stop staring at it. Now I have pic's, I've never found one like that. The bad thing is, where he was,is a place where they run for cover, it's a whole line of arborviaties.

You killed all the neighboring dogs. Wow whats up with that? Do you hate your neighbors? Did you give them a chance to keep their dogs in check or were they feral?

I've killed my neighboring dogs too. Unfortunately they continued to come on our property and continued to kill our poultry. When time and time again, you tell your neighbors that if they come onto your property, you're going to have to kill their dogs and they do nothing, you have the right and the responsibility to protect your property and your flock by any means necessary.

We live outside of town and animal control here in NOT an option. We tried that route first.

2am, dogs are trying to rip into my pens, I went outside and a St. Bernard and a German Shepherd from down the road came running at me when they saw me. Two blasts from my .410 and they were dead. I tugged and pushed and pulled, put them into the wheelbarrow and brought them down to their property 1/4 mile a way. I dumped them in the middle of their driveway. Cruel? Maybe. But I've been telling them for 3 years that something had to be done.

I lost 70 birds most of them expensive birds from the top breeders in the country to all kinds of predators this year, including these two big dogs and their smaller dog companion.

The next day, I got a phone call from the neighbors apologizing that their dogs had yet again been up here terrorizing us and asking if I saw their little pug. Last time I saw him, he was running toward their house. Now, I'll tell you that I cried my eyes out while shooting these dogs and cried for days after. I'm an animal lover and have 4 dogs myself but I control my animals. I'd expect one of mine to get shot if they went on someone else's property too.

To the OP, I'm so sorry about your birds. I know how you feel, I was there this summer. I lost our entire turkey flock, white Jersey Giant flock, so many more. I was crushed. I would suggest you get yourself a LGD and don't free range when you're not going to be around. Especially with an active coyote population around. We have coyote, bobcat, owls (lost 7 bantam Partridge Wyandottes to an owl this summer), raccoons, possum, you name it around here.

Good luck to you. HUGSSSSSSSs

I'm pretty sure skunks grab and go. Sometimes hawks will dive into a small run if they are chasing. Is that possible in your coop? I saw a owl this morning fly away from our tree line. It may have been what got my D'Uccle, I think he has noticed them and took advantage yesterday, this morning, I didn't have to work and was out in the fussing around,so he didn't get a chance to grab today.
