My SLW i thought was a cockeral. She feathered out slower than the others and her comb grew alot bigger than the others at 5 weeks of age. Turns out she was just a very fiesty pullet.Thank goodness!![]()

It’s a silver not gold (I also have two gold pullets). The lace pattern is less clean and he’s blackish around the base of his neck. His wattle and comb became noticeably different from the pullets at about 5 weeks of age.Do you have some pictures of him?

These are two different birds? The first is a cockerel, and the 2nd is a pullet? Here’s a better pic of the cockerel at 9.5 weeks followed by the pullet same age, you can really see the difference in patterning:
Yep!These are two different birds? The first is a cockerel, and the 2nd is a pullet?
Thank you! I’m struggling with my own 9 weekish cockerels — there is increasingly little room for doubt that they are, in fact, cockerels, but I’m still not completely convinced. These photos are really helpful. I’m still waiting for those pointy feathers! Otherwise, their coloring does seem to crow.Yep!
Everything I read says they are really hard to sex. Mine was supposed to be vent sexed, but that’s only 90%. My other cockerel is a green queen and he was obvious at 3 weeks.Thank you!
