Wyandottes with white legs

How many years do you have to work on getting the right type and color? A genetic mix like this will take at least 8 years to stabilize something that breeds pure. If pure breeding is not an issue, then enjoy them the way they are.

From what I see, 2/3 of the males should be culled off the bat because they do not show good Wyandotte type.

Where did you come up with the 8 year time-line?
And what are saying would take that long?
I don't see getting back to pure for yellow skin and pure for rose combs taking near that long.
If you're including SOP body type and good patterns then ya maybe.

Oh really...
So should I be aiming for the colour on the left or the right for Blue Laced Red?
I guess it depends on personal preference. The SOP usually calls for a darker blue (I don’t know specifically about wyandottes, though) but the one on the left has a MUCH better red coloration. The one on the right is closer to blue laced gold than red.

Thanks, yes it will take time and work and all of the males bar 2 will be going. I will post a new thread with pictures in the near future once I know how many males I've got, I'm guessing 12 atm but will most likely be more than that.
Most likely I will source a rooster from somewhere else, the roos never stay long here 😂 normally 1 season if they are lucky (speaking of sussex's) this is the first time I've ventured into wyandottes

I agree that the one on the right looks more blue laced gold. The one on the left has much better red coloring and that’s what you want for BLRW. I’m partial to a medium blue, versus the super dark blues but if you aren’t showing having an array of shades isn’t so bad :)
