Wyoming Unite!!!!

I accidentally found the hidden turkey nest this morning. I have been right beside it many times but this morning I was looking from a different angle. There are 16 eggs in the nest. She needs to go broody very soon.

Hi, I live in Casper Wyoming. And it's nice to know that there are some people who are also raising chickens here, We've got ten new pullets in this nice weather. They are my new best friends!
I also really like your photos, @R2elk👍

Hi, glad you found us!

What breed of chickens do you have?

I've got 1 brown leghorn, 2 buff orpingtons, 3 white leghorns, and 4 dark brahmas.

Nice!

I have 3 Cream Crested Leghorns, 1 Welsummer and 1 Sapphire (I think). I got my birds as chicks from @R2elk, maybe he can verify that for me. They do a good job of keeping us in eggs :)

I don't remember whether yours have rose combs or if they have crests. If they have rose combs, they are Rose Comb Legbars. They were made by breeding rose comb half brown leghorns, half cream legbar hens with a Cream Legbar rooster.

For the legbars, 1 has a rose comb and the other 2 have single.

The one I can't remember for sure is the white girl with a few black spots that lays blue eggs. She's a flighty one, this is probably the best picture I have of her:

Yes, she is a Sapphire. They are created by using a Cream Legbar rooster over White Leghorn hens.

Thanks! She's a great layer, I'm still getting probably 5 eggs per week from her.

That is the white leghorn genes. I see that McMurrays was selling them this year as Crested White Sapphires. The Legbar roosters they use must be homozygous for the crested gene where the ones that I used only had one crested gene.
