Yay! getting more ducks!

I talked to the lady i got the 3 crested's from and she's going to give me the last 3 hens she has..and im going to check out ehr boys since she has 10 left

im excited, and i think im going to have a look at the (just found out) Blue & Black swedish ducks form the person that responded to my ad, i saw some pics and theyre really pretty....

im so overly excited about ducks right now, lol

Is it too late to get ducklings in Zone 5? If I order now they will not arrive until mid October (my birthday!) and I would have to house them in the basement. I don't want to leave them there beyond Xmas as they will be too big and stinky. Can I put them outside at that point with the older ducks in a pen that is sheltered on the North and West sides and will have a converted wooden packing crate to go inside?

I wouldn't just because they won't have been able to get used to the temperatures slowly like the ones outside.

Awesome living quarters! My three Cayuga's and two Magpies just hatched out two ducklings and a BO chick on their first attempt I gave the BO chick to my BO hen called Big Mama who also hatched out 9 chicken chicks. The second duckling to hatch was weak and I couldn't find it today so before I went to work I put the strong duckling in the biggest coop in a plastic tub w/heat lamp, straw bedding, food and water. The duckling is half Cayuga and half Magpie but I can't tell yet if it is a crested. Mine are jealous of your's living quarters, we only have that type of set up for 3 months of the year

btw, maybe all i really want is a pond...yeah. thats it. a pond. harmless really, just a pond. Ducks are cute and all but a pond is really cute. fun to watch too. I got a shovel. Maybe I'll just go dig like crazy cause I wanna cuddle up with a pond. and puddles maybe some little puddles too
