YAY! Muscovy brooding(she's been a sneaky girl)

Rosilee has been naughty

when I went out to feed, I didn't see her, so I started hyperventilating

, I went into the pen, and saw Squeaks laying at the nest box/house doorway, behind him was Rosilee, all hunkered down in a thick nest of hay, and feathers, Squeaks got up and strutted over to the food with everyone else, but Rosilee stayed behind, she hasn't moved since.

I hadn't even noticed she was laying eggs in there, the geese don't lay in there anymore, so i don't even check anymore, I don't know how many eggs shes got, but I'm so proud.

but is it normal for a male muscovy to sort of, guard the female on a nest, Squeaks rarely wants to leave Rosilee, and he hisses at any duck who gets too close.

congrats! sounds normal for the drake though. ever come close to a nest in the wild? man that boy will attack you!! my drake is so protective of the nest, but his girl isn't broody....but he still protects them.
