Well my two italian owls laid 2 eggs And both the female and the male are sharing duties sitting on the eggs. Well the other day we candled them and only one is fertile so should i take the dead egg out or just leave it? Also i need some good juju that the one viable egg makes it!

Thanks For The "help" I'm Glad You All Like To Answer The Same Questions Over And Over For The Newbies Who Always Ask What Bird Should I Get Instead Of Helping People Who Need Help With The Birds They Already Have. If A Newbie To Pigeons Wants To Know About A Certin Breed Than They Should Search It! I Am So Tired Of Being Ignored By My Fellow Bycers When Real Questions Are Asked. Have Fun Spending The Day Repeating Yourselves About What Breed Should I Buy

I think the main focus of the forum is chickens so other questions are over looked.I would take out the bad egg but I am new to pigeons.Just bought 3 pairs of rollers and hoping for eggs soon.Good luck try pigeon talk forum they are not real quick to answer not alot of traffic but it is all devoted to pigeons so maybe a better response.

I agree it takes some time for a pigeon master to ansewr your queastions so be patient young grasshoppa

i have had it take a month to get a response.

how old are the eggs ? the second egg could be up to 48 hours laid after the first one . sometimes birds will start to incubate before the second one is laid . so be sure you cover the time elaspe and if the second egg is infertile i would remove it breaks or cracks you have a mess .

I'm sorry I have been away from BYC lately. I always try to add my 2 cents to all the threads

If it isn't fertile, pitch it. As long as there is one left in the nest, no worries.

Sorry for throwing a fit! Anywho i knew the egg wasn't fertile because we candeled them to day 7 and only 1 had veins. We are getting close to hatch day.

I've not had any luck with my pigeons yet, though one pair of my doves keeps trying to hatch an egg. Both times, the egg has not been fertile, but rather than taking it away I just left it until they gave up on it. Though in your case, since they do have one good egg, I would take the bad one out.

HI end9586 ; Sorry it took so long for you to get an answer. Like the others have said, the bad egg can ruin the good one. If it explodes next to the unhatched squeeker the bacteria could kill the unhatched baby. This is really a good forum and I hope you will stay here and post and learn with the rest of us. I am NOT an expert , but I have raised pigeons and chickens all my life of 65 years and I would be most happy to answer ANY question you may have. If I do not know the answer and I can not find the answer,,,I will tell you that "I don't know". My email is [email protected] My name is "bekisar" Wayne B.
