@gmjarvi you need a hutch like my dad made me for Christmas for my house. I'm obsessed. once I explained him how I have to store my eggs so that I can hatch chicks, he made this for me out of an old antique he found.

They were collected on Sunday. If I set on the 14th I can do the EHAL....but that's getting close to 7 days since they were collected 😬

It's give or take a couple days, I think they still count for the Easter Hatch-a-long!

I primarily use horizontal turners. I allowed my shipped eggs to rest for about 6 hours (though 8-24 is recommended) and then I put them right into the turner. While some were too scrambled to start development I has an 88% hatch rate in the horizontal turner even with severely detached and saddled air cells. I think you'll be just fine! Good luck on your hatch!

Here's how I do it:
(Total eggs) - (unfertilized eggs) = ((fertilized eggs)/(total eggs))*100= %fertility

(Fertilized eggs) - (quitters before lockdown) = ((viable eggs)/(fertilized eggs))*100 = %viable

(Viable eggs) - (unhatched eggs after hatch) = ((hatched eggs)/(viable eggs))*100 = %hatch

I sure hope so! They are resting point side down in an egg carton right now; I'm trying to decide how long to let them rest for. There is one air cell that's a little loose and most of them are saddled. 🤞 they were pretty reasonably priced so if this doesn't go so well I will try again...I really want cayugas.

This is how I usually do mine as well. Subtract the infertile from the total eggs then those that quit from the eggs that go into lockdown and that gives your total hatch rate.

I do all because I feel it shows the quality of your eggs, but I can do it this way

Right now my eggs are good but the rooster isn't fertilizing them. He may end up being laid off if he doesn't get his act together. Especially since I know I have some really nice looking roosters in the grow outs from this years hatches so far.

Olive Egger Hatch is complete. 3/12/20: 91% (started with 12, 1 infertile, 1 quitter, 10 live chicks)
I'm not sure what info you needed specifically so I'll just paste it all here.

- Used Version 2 Nurture Right incubator, 99.5°F, 40-50% (usually 45%) humidity for the first 18 days, increased to 65% for hatch.

- A total of 7 of the original 12 eggs were "undesirable" and 5 hatched!
- 2 Oblong Eggs - Both Hatched!
- 2 Porous Eggs - Both Hatched!
- 1 Sticky Eggs (thought to be egg white leakage) - Hatched!
- 1 Calcium Build Up Egg - Clear/Infertile
- 1 Cracked Egg (repaired with wax) - Quitter on approximately day 15-17 due to bacteria or from the amount of wax needed to cover large crack preventing proper gas exchange.
