Yellow runny poop... ?

One was roundworm; sorry I can't remember the other. He gave me Piperazine. Now I read that it is only good for roundworms. She does seem better already, though.

You should call him and ask what the other worm was and treat with a womer that targets that worm.

The other one was capillaria, I think. I need to call them again tomorrow. I didn't actually talk to the vet, just the assistant. I don't know how much he really knows about chickens, but I will ask him about the other worm.

That's a bad worm... time to get some Safeguard liquid for goats (fenbendazole) from Tractor Supply or Safeguard paste for horses. Dose of either for chickens is 0.23ml per pound orally for five days in a row.

I will need to get over to the big island for that, but I will. Last time I asked about it they wouldn't sell it to me, so I have to say I have goats.

The good news is, she is much better today.

Thank you Kathy. You've been so helpful! I decided to go ahead and pay the $50 to see the vet today just so I can ask him a lot of questions. I will take Lisa so he can at least check her for other things. I will ask about the Fenbendazole as well. I'm pretty new to all this and there is so much conflicting information around. I have tried all the natural solutions, but know that sometimes you just need the drugs!

Lisa is acting more chicken-like today. I put her out with the others and she is eating, pecking and scratching. None of them will eat their pellets, though. I made tem a scrambled egg and some chopped Apple. Her poop is still very watery, but clear, with dark bits. I'll ask the vet about that too.

Update: the vet was great, although I suspect everyone in town may be talking about the crazy woman who took a chicken to the vet. He gave me another wormer to administer to the whole flock, examined Lisa, and
D also gave me some antibiotic in case the diarrhea persists. she was out with other girls all day, but I did bring her in again for the night. She just dropped a very normal looking poop.

Hi, I am reaching out to
@casportpony ,
@Michael Apple ,
@dawg53
in hopes I can reach someone this morning.

I've been reading this thread and others today as I have a 2 year old hen that seems to fit the profile for blackhead. Friends have suggested it could be a broken egg inside but that doesn't account for the sulfur yellow diarrhea. I first noticed something was off when I saw her expel a JET of fluid from her vent when she was on the perch night before last. I was out there to administer the second round of Eprinex. (I've seen a roundworm in the coop 2 times recently.) The next day (yesterday) she stayed in the nest box all day. I lifted about 3pm and found a yellow substance on the feathers below her vent, not the color of yolk, it's lighter, more vivid yellow. She went outside briefly. I later found more of the sulfur yellow liquid deposit on the ground.

I brought her into the house to isolate, give antibiotics, and observe. She drinks a lot of the medicated water but will not eat solids. I gave her a dose of calcium from a liqui-gel tablet. She doesn't make a peep and moves very little. She's had more of the sulfur yellow diarrhea, but that's all. I did see some dark gooey stuff in it last night, but not today.

I'm wondering if you might be able to add to this conversation. Do you think the symptoms of these blackhead and an internal broken egg are the same?

I am waiting for local businesses to open this morning in hopes I can locate either AvioTrich tablets or FishZole which I understand are otc products for metronidazole. I doubt there is time for mail order. But I don't expect much success locally. I'm pretty far out from large towns so my options are somewhat limited. Ideas? Suggestions? I feel like I'm grasping as straws.

Thanks!
