Yes, the White Layer ducklings had pink bills when they were little, now they are more yellowish-brown, definitely no longer pink.

I definitely see some pink bills! Did you notice other differences between the HWL and Pekins as they grew?

They both grow fast but my Pekin definitely weighs more. Their stance, head/body shape and feathers are different too. My HWL actually flew about 30 feet the other day LOL - I think he shocked himself when he did it - definitely not something he does regularly. Forgot to mention that TSC can also tell you which hatchery that order of ducklings came from - then you can go to the hatchery website to see which breeds they carry - to rule out or rule in your breeds. Here's a pic of all of my babies - you can tell the Pekin (white on the left) to the HWL (white/yellowish on the right).

First bath today! Never mind the freezing temps and snow outside...it's warm in the tub and there's gentle blow-drying afterward! Ducks and water - need I say more?


I think this is a Blue Swedish on L and either a Pekin or possibly a Runner on R.

Thanks!! They really pooped it up - but prodigious (normal) pooping is always good to see from babies (as you know)! They played hard and wore themselves out.

Thanks!! She (hope hope) does stand more erect than the other suspected Pekin (the other one with an orange bill), but also just doesn't look quite like the other Pekin. Reminds me of the Pekin/Runner mix ducklings I had - but maybe it's because they were part Pekin, too.
