That's so depressing...and aggravating! Caring for baby poultry and waterfowl isn't exactly rocket science, and yet it seems too big of a challenge for some of these stores. And while TSC seems to have a better track record than certain other farm stores, it must vary by location. It's not right for unsuspecting customers to get sick animals, either. We saw some unhealthy ones at TsC today too. A Rouen and a Pekin had crusted eyes and could not hold their heads up. There was a guy pulling ducklings out that a lady was buying but I guess he was blind.
Yeah I just figured out recently that my drake Pekin was a drake hybrid white layer - i always knew he didn't look like my real Pekin lol or weigh as much as a male Pekin should. I started looking at duckling pics of other BYC members then looked online and figured it out with the pink bill (HWL) vs orange/flesh bill (Pekin). I hope you get all girls and get lots of eggs!!!Ah, I see what you mean. That would be just fine, too...lots of eggs (if ducks)!

There aren’t very many commercial hatcheries down in the states that sell Alyesbury ducks. Here the flesh coloured billed white ducks are called either an Canadian meat Duck by oldtimers or Alsbury Ducks
I understand that..There aren’t very many commercial hatcheries down in the states that sell Alyesbury ducks.
Yes, the White Layer ducklings had pink bills when they were little, now they are more yellowish-brown, definitely no longer pink.Yes it was his pics that were my first clue! I immediately went and looked at Jabby's duckling pics and BINGO - bright pink bill!
