So after 5 chicks fell (almost) dead from frostbite, whom are now regaining their strength, one in particular has caught my attention.
He is doing okay, but his vent looks all weird, and he is pooing runny, light tan almost orange poop, about the consistency of milk or cream. He sounds like a duck when pooping, which isn't good.
Anyone know what this is? He suffered from an always-poopy vent as a chick, but surely this can't be pastey butt at 8 weeks?
This was directly after a soak.

i would try something to soften up his stool. it still looks very plugged and inflamed. is the yellow i'm seeing look like puss to you? if so i strongly recommend a re-soak an then once it's clear of visible fecal matter or infection debris applying vaseline liberally around the vent. for softening him up? i personally use cold coconut oil, i break it into chunks and place small bits into their mouths. i really helps get things moving.

ACV (unflitered/with Mother, 1T to 1 gal) helped with pasty butts in chicks, I also ferment my chicks & adults feed. It could be the stress.
