My Golden Sexlink hatched on the 21st of March and produced her egg today, at exactly 16 weeks. Am I mistaken or is that early even for a hybrd bird?? I was flabbergasted. She had crouched for me two days earlier, and her combs were redder but I thought we'd have another two weeks to go until the first miracle in the nest arrived. Proud chicken mama!

Now, to decide when to change the feed, as the other five in the coop haven't begun to lay yet. Also, need to figure when to add oyster shell and all that. Its all so exciting!

Congrats, you will love having fresh eggs to eat. As for the food, i took mine off pullet mix when they were about that age and put them straight on layer, ours has grit added to it so i don't bother adding the oyster shells, but i do regularly feed the egg shells that i have used back to them along with other calcium rich things like milk yogurt and cheese, they love it. Also my pullet food says the withholding period for eggs was 14 days so i used what i had up and changed them about the time the guy i got them from said i would start to see eggs, they didnt start to lay for another 6 weeks.
