Yipppeeeeee first egg today

Thank you, that's very helpful! I'm thinking we'll install a camera in the coop so we can actually see which one is doing what, who's laying. So, from your experience it's "normal" for them to make noise when they lay an egg and I collect it?
Exactly, I want to know which egg was laid by which hen so I can keep track....and know if there is a problem. Thanks for the reassurance. Yes, hubby and I are REALLY enjoying his....after all the work, blood, sweat, tears, and money we put into building a secure coop and run, the reward is eggs!! 🥚🥚🥚🥚
I have a couple hens that do the "egg song" off and on for a long time after laying an egg. Even long after ive taken the egg! Some also do the "egg song" before and/ or during laying too. While others make no song throughout. Is that the sound your hen is making?

No, I wasn't specifically referring to an egg song. We did hear one of those yesterday and it was distinctly a song...sounded like either laughing or crying, couldn't tell which. It was cool though. Then when she was done laying, she stopped.
I was talking about a low, sort of mumbling/bawking/clucking. I have a couple who do that, and it seems to be when they're looking for their egg that they laid. We had nine eggs total as of this morning. The girls who have laid eggs so far (3 or 4, maybe 5?) have been very friendly and cuddly to me, jumping up on my lap for soft pets and cuddles. Very sweet.

We're getting 7-12 eggs a day now! (13 chickens, only one EE not yet laying, but soon...)
TODAY we got our first EE blue egg from one of our two EEs, Pepper. Isn't it purty???
