YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hey Georgia Folks

Hope yall are well!!!

I'm here to give ya a notice, a warning so to speak.

There seems to be a poultry theif on the loose. In the last few weeks I've had several birds stolen from our pastures (late at night, birds cooped up for the night already) and from right by the house. Silkies (My sons pair of buffs

) , Speckled Sussex, Delawares and Easter Eggers. I've filed a report with the Sheriffs Office and the Chief Investigator is checking a few leads. They bypassed a LOT of other juvenille birds and specifically took these ones. Why, I'm not sure... to eat? To resell? To have thier own chickens? I'll probably never know.

I HOPE yall haven't had any problems like this. With as much stock as we've got on the farm, I'm almost frightened to think they might go for something else next time, like a goat, or even one of the cows!

So now we've got all entrance gates to the farm padlocked and have been doing some relocation. What a mess. I'm tempted to padlock all our coops too.

Yall be careful, and I pray none of yall have to go through this.

Does anyone have any turkey poults?
I'm looking for 12-15 turkeys, would like 4-5+ Broad Breasted, and not to picky on the rest. I live in Thomas Co (South GA), but my mom will be coming thru North Ga Sunday or monday on her way back from Maryland. I had a low hatch Saturday and want more to make up for unhatched. I would like to get some around the same age, so they could be put together.

I've been looking at hatcheries, but most are sold out or cost 7.50 and up per poult, plus more for shipping.

Please PM me if you have some

oohh Nicole.. so sorry to hear about this.. just terrible... economic times have brought out the worst in some people.. I have spread the word around here that if someone is hungry enough to risk sneaking on my property to steal.. just knock on the front door.. I'll be happy to share what I have.

Game cameras are an option.. maybe you could film the theif in action.. what did the Sheriff say.. any other similar burgluries?

Shelly

Hey Shelly

I know what you mean, I would gladly give someone some birds if they're hungry... I've got absolutely NO problem doin that! Stealing, though,

They took most of my breeding stock, which REALLY hurt us... emotionally, financially... ugh. Makes me just wanna cry. And my Sons Silkies... ugh! I wanna poke em with fire pokers for that one...my son was devasteted

The Investigator didn't mention about any other cases like this, but that they'd be keeping an eye out on CL and such (as I've been doing too) as well as checking on some info for me.

We're looking into borrowing some GC's from a friend. Though I think the next few Thurs/Fri nights we'll be playing boogie man in the yard

(They all were stolen on Thurs/Fri nights, before the local small stock auction on Saturdays)

This gentlemen told me just now in phone converstation, he has some theifs, and he has done it all game cameras, installed sensors to alert them in their home, and he even hired a person to come sit in his barn to catch them, but without achievement with all he has done, he has went and bought him some special dogs, I forgot what they are called but born with natural instincs at birth to defend against intruders and strangers, they are 3 months old, and he is just waiting to let them out at his barn.

I hope that these Chicken Bandits are taken down, there is nothing worse than a thief.... someone that delibrately does something to cause harm to another...that is simply wrong!!!

LGD's LIvestock Guardian Dogs. Greay Pyranese are considered LSG's and there's a couple other breeds as well. Great dogs, but do tend to wander several miles (if not more) to protect "their" herd.

I'm so sorry that someone would stoop so low as to steal your birds Nicole. I would be irate also! I hope they find who did it.

Thanks Luvin... We can't get LGD's for the poultry in with the cows, as the cows stomp any dogs they see (As mine have found out a few times) But thanks for the suggestion.

I hope we can catch em, before anything else goes missing
