Hopefully someone else can chime in on this. I have only had chickens for a year and am no expert! I have however read in multiple places that your roosting poles should always be higher than the nesting box to prevent the problem you are having. We have a row of three on one wall and two that crisscross the inside of the coop. I added the two as an after thought, they weren't fitting on the three propped up against the wall very well. After I added those they immediately became the preferred sleeping spot.Quote:
Our roosting poles are at the same level as our nesting boxes, so that could be the problem, but not going to change that quite yet. I have put golf balls in the boxes. I appreciate the advice!!!!
