YO GEORGIANS! :)

You can use the commonly available and popular Wazine, but there is controversy over whether or not to toss any eggs laid while on wormer and soon after worming. It does not contain any info on the label because it was not studied in laying hens. It is labeled for meat birds. I have wormed all of my birds with it before, and just tossed the eggs for a week and a half ( I had only four laying irregularly at the time, so no big deal). I've also mixed Diatomacious Earth into their food and sprinkled it on the ground and in their coops. There is also a thread on BYC about using horse wormer paste to worm chickens, but Ive never tried it (have used it to worm dogs though). PS -The Wazine goes into their water, dosage repeated for a few days; find it a Tractor supply in the chicken section (smaller bottle), and near the goat stuff (same stuff, bigger bottle, less expensive per dose in bigger bottle).

Here's the link to that thread; I just read it, and the information is sound. I cross-checked with the off-label instructions I have for worming shelter dogs (given to me by a vet who did the math for me), and it's almost the same.

I wish it would rain here. 3 weeks with barely a half inch. My front yard almost died on me. Now I'm pouring the water on trying to revive it.

I am at the other end of that spectrum, it has rained here almost everyday this month. Even when it doesn't rain anywhere else, it rains here!! My yard is like a soaked sponge and my grass is turning yellow from, too much water.

I hear ya! Our garden is drowning; the squash and pumpkins are dying off, the cucumbers are beginning to, and the tomatoes are all threatening to split before ripening! Lots of fried green tomatoes, I guess. The grass here doesn't care too much, but I'm having a heck of a time with other plantings either growing crazy or dying off

Also, Rex the Wonder dog is out of Benadryl (cheap alternative to doggie prozac), so he has spent part of every day in his crate crying and panting pitifully through his storm phobia.

Same here. I haven't watered the garden in about a month. My squash plants are dying too. My tomatoes have started to split but most are falling off and rotting.

Mine freaks when it thunders, lightening, gun shots, planes flying 20 ft over the house, anything loud. She only gets really bad with thunderstorms though and I usually put her under the covers with me and she calms down some.

I am looking at deworming my chickens. I dont have an issue, but I want to do it anyway. What is the easiest/best method. I would like something as hands off as possible. Something I can put in their water or food.
This is natural and isn't as effective as dewormer, but I use pureed pumpkin guts seeds and all. Although where are you going to find a pumpkin in July?

They like it, and its free, so it works for me. I usually just toss all the innards in the blender and then freeze the puree. I do one container for each season and thaw when I need it. Btw, pumpkin makes a great summer snack.

Gahh, I know! My squash looks horrid. The only things doing well are my tomatoes and beans. And one lone pumpkin plant.

Guess who got a smart phone!! 4G too!

Soooo sorry about the cow, though. If she wanders this far south, I'll be sure to milk her before returning her... lol!

And I wish I had known @mrsdszoo was going to visit with GAM, though. I still have duckies I could send up that way...

I am glad to know that my first year at trying to grow a food garden and it's failure, is not all my fault!!! LOL I kept wondering why my cucumbers and squash were falling off! My lettuce, however, is almost as big as me! And, I have two corn stalks growing because of scratch seed thrown to my chickens that didn't get eaten! LOL

My garden that is on a water timer is doing great, the back garden, which is for the critters. It was suffering from drought, then it rained and it has exploded with growth. I don't think the corn will make it, but the carrots and potatoes are thriving.

This year is starting to look like last summer regarding crappy gardens. :( SO glad we didn't bust our humps again with corn and the whole nine... Ugh!!
