YO GEORGIANS! :)

Our First Egg!

Ok so it didn't come from one of the chicks we raised but the new Maran hens we got on the 30th. Still though, so excited and it is a beautiful egg too! My teen washed it off before I would tell her we are going to incubate the eggs we get this coming weekend so they need to be left how they are and put in a cool dry place till then.
We're in the same boat. We were given 5 mature hens, and I'm thrilled every day when I collect eggs. Still, I can't wait to get that first egg from one of MY chicks. Good luck!

My DW got me 7chicks for me today 6 golden campiness and 1 exchequer leghorn. She has told me no more animals for the last month until today she tells me to pick out the chicks I want for my birthday. We went to Highsmith heritage poultry in gray for some welsummers tonight and came back with these. Happy happy happy

Yay!!! Are you in Forsyth as in Cumming, Gainesville, Sugar Hill etc.?

I'm absolutely not an expert, but I will share what happened when a friend gave us 5 mature hens not long ago. Two of them kept right on laying - never missed a beat. The other 3 took about 5 days to settle down and get back into their groove. Now we get 4 eggs most days, with 5 on occasion. Four more pullets now 3 1/2 months old are coming along as well. Can't wait for our "new" eggs.

HOOAH!! Army wife here too.

Please don't say that... I'll start fretting sooner than necessary. I will soon be a "retired" AW as well. I'm almost dreading finding out what kind of trouble he can get into with his "projects." On the bright side, I am already planning our third coop. (We're only now building # 2.) LOL

Hi Thomson. I'm about an hour from you. How are you doing with the ducks? DD is begging me to try a few, but I'm not sure how we would work them in.
