Carcar-don't give up on those eggs that set out so fast! I took 2 1/2 week incubated mille fleur bearded duccle eggs out of the bator to give to the MFBD pullet when she was pretending to go broody. She ignored them, they stayed out in the nest overnight and cooled. The next morning I snuck them under the true broody that ended up leaving them when her oldest chicks needed food and water. I stuck them back in the bator when they WERE In lockdown under her; they joined the others in lockdown in the bator AND BOTH HATCHED even after all of that!

The problem was, these were already "assisted", and were also already several days late.. And so were sitting, topless, out of the bator all night- not even with moist paper towels over them. Anyways, Iike I said I will not be staggering sets OR assisting hatches anymore. Especially when they're already so late/doomed..
