YO GEORGIANS! :)

It is clear that GAM needs to arrange to have carcar come over and provide adult supervision the next time she decided to leave us. So as I was sitting here enjoying my 15 Zaxby's chicken tenders and fries, I thought all was good. I had four containers of bbq sauce. One spilled when the top popped off, much like aforementioned egg, but it was inside the styrofoam container so all is good right? Keep telling yourself that. GAMjr came to get more food, which I reluctantly shared since she had in fact eaten more than twice over the last 3 days. She said to me, "that's a lot of bbq sauce you spilled." I says, "It's fine. It's in the container." She then pointed out that in fact it was on the bed. THAT was was the moment I noticed there are holes in the tops of the food containers that allowed nearly that whole dipping cup full of bbq sauce to escape and free range all over my bed sheet. GAM may leave me at a boarding kennel next time she leaves.

Oh, and the egg that popped? No mess to clean up. The top popped off like it was designed to do that. The inside was quite nasty looking. No chick development at all just smelly goo. Must've been a dud from the very beginning since it had been in the incubator about 2 weeks and there was no veins or anything.

Flower.... had it been me you would have come home to a stinky incubator. Robo don't do bad smells.

LOL!! Robo, you must mean Mr Carcar.. If *I* were supervising, you'd already be one-up on me with the Zaxby's.. Cap'n Crunch is more my speed when unsupervised. :lau

And I can't believe poor sweet little GAMjr is caught up in this. She should have come and hung with me!

GAMjr stayed with GrammaRobo from Thursday afternoon til I picked her up today. Poor RoboJr ended up doing house work all weekend.

How normal is it for chickens who are new to laying to miss a couple days of laying? I haven't had an egg from some of my layers in 2 or 3 days, yet the secret nest I found last night was laid in again today 8 days straight and it's a silver laced wynadotte laying! Although her eggs are so small!

There are some awsome experts here like Robo and GAM and CarCar and I have not caught up on the thread yet but I thought I would add my understanding. Even dependable layers can STOP laying all of a sudden, or skip days and it is a variety of reasons, one being stress! Too confined, not always having food.... they can be picky little things!

Eggs I believe get bigger as the hen matures?

I have an aunt that is allergic to the sun, too. She wears long sleeves and hats all summer.

I hate the heat! Living in GA is torture! There is only so much one can take off, always more one can put on in the cold at least. I look so weird when our during the day with jeans and long sleeves. I need a sun hat! Would a sun umbrella be extra weird? I think I will stick to hiding from the sun for the most part! Sorry to hear about your Aunt, kinda cool though to hear about someone else who has this issue, it isn't very common!
