YO GEORGIANS! :)

Can you fence off an area of the yard and use avian netting? I have a 40 x 40 foot fenced pen with avian netting on top and that stuff is apparently quite strong.

A few days ago a heavy tree limb ended up on top of the net and rested on the ground, after my lawn man and his grown grandson helper got it OFF the net with a bit of struggle no damage was done. Tuff stuff! Pretty cheap too, cost me $60 or so on Amazon. Keeps hawks OUT and my bantams IN.

If your chickens start roaming outside of your yard they will become prey for something or other, cars, dogs, something.
My neighbors fence is getting put in next week. I am just going to keep a close eye on them if they manage to jump into his yard before then I will put them in chicken run jail.

How does everyone like this weather I brought you from Alaska????
Love it!!!! Thank you

Yeah, we like it. Arctic blast is nice in July. :)

Not in winter but in the middle of summer it is awesome!
Agreed, arctic blasts and chickens don't mix in the winter... at all

The frizzle frizzle hen I got from a lady who appeared to have over bred her woth the classic signs of feathers missing on her head and back. Now I realize I needto get her a saddle asap but until then the roo maybe cause due to rain .....but ccompletely put a gash and seperated her skin. She heals usually really fast but in this case the skin bunch ed up causing open wound.what do I do to fix it?
Spray with Vetericyn. That stuff works wonders. Blu-kote also works, haven't used it on a large open wound, but it helps deter feather picking.

Hush yo mouth! This is Georgia, this State shuts down if we get an inch of that four letter word! I could go the rest of my life without that crap!

Same here. Dogs don't like it, cats don't like it, chickens don't like it, so that means I don't like it because it gives me extra work to make the animals happy. It's only fun the first day, then it's just torture

haha, I have chicken run jail and Cinnamon is not liking it right now

I bought some eggs online and have been incubating them, first time I have ever hatched anything. Well this morning two (out of 3) of the incubator eggs have pipped!!!! I also have 5 eggs under a broody bantam hen in the coop and they must be pipping too (these were shipped BB Red OEG Bantam eggs).

I am very very excited! Never had newborn chicks before!

We'd like to buy some White Crested Black Polish bantams, but we want to know they are hens. Just had to give some roosters away and that was so sad. Does anyone know of farm or breeder in North Georgia that would have some for sale? Thanks!

A few months back I was trying to find adult OEG bantam hens. After looking EVERYWHERE I finally thought to reach out to the OEG Bantam show folks. Found a breeder 2 hours away that had gorgeous retired show hens, he gave me two 4-year-old hens as he has to make room for younger birds. I love those hens! One is hatching the batch of shipped eggs in the coop as we speak.

You might want to consider that if you can find a show breeder. http://www.polishbreedersclub.com/historyofclubofficers.htm

Yesterday afternoon my DH came into the house saying that our head rooster, Ace an SS was attacking his shoes. He would shew him off and Ace would come at him again and again. Now the girls all like my DH. When he sits outside the girls come up to him and sit on his legs. I told him I think Ace doesn't like the girls showing him so much attention. LOL! However, my DH believes that Ace is attacking him because when our other SS rooster Silver flew over the fence this past weekend my DH caught him an tossed him back in the fenced in area. Does anyone have any idea why Ace may be attacking my DH?

My DH and three of the girls. That is Ace on the ground not happy.
