YO GEORGIANS! :)

I know what you mean. Nothing against anyone with hatchery chicks- I have four. My Polish are a mess of the standard! But this little boy/girl got the worst of it. Crossed beak, white in hair. The other one has lacing that looks like a train wreck. I'm hoping the hatchery Phoenix 2 will be ok looking- will find out if I show them. My Polish with the crossed beak- the sweetest of all the chicks. Even sweeter than the Silkies (who protest when I pic them up. The other Polish with stand on my feet, but doesn't like to be held. My train wreck Polish love it. My favorite of my chickens. They are all in their teens.

This little guy died today :( I've been hand feeding and giving electrolytes in his water, but he just didn't make it. I've seen worst cases of cross beaks on here- and they do fine. I dunno.

Guess what??....Chicken butt

I guess we are all just softies at heart. I can't imagine chicken life without my Broke Beak. I'm glad you didn't cull Skippy or Little Bit. I hope you and I both don't have a bunch of roos. I won't know for 4-5 months so I'll just enjoy them right now as little babies.
I don't want a bunch of roos either but my silkies are sure looking that way. I'll take some pictures later and let you see what you think. Skippy still has a hard time just getting by with me outside with him (definitely a roo though) and Little Bit doesn't have a care in the world. She just doesn't care if she gets her hat picked out or if she gets chased. She gets her revenge. If they spook her, she hops across the run like leap frog going across chicken backs.

They all look around like what in the world was that. Little Bit just struts by like she's all that while they're still trying to figure her out. lol.

I am just loving the pictures. Thanks, ya'll, for posting them. I have 11 Ameraucauna's that aren't quite so beautiful as yours, but I love them! Looking forward to eggs soon, I keep checking their nest boxes every couple of days, but none yet. They are only 4months, so it is all hopeful thinking...but it might happen.

CraftyChicky ~ We will wait with baited breath for your eggs to come. Mine are 5 months and I'm still waiting. My cockerel is practicing his crowing and starting to stalk the girls,

What a beautiful day in west central ga..........Picked butter peas, and weeded strawberry plants. A really great day except for a mongrel dog that appeared on our farm property and was intent on ill will. This hasn't happened in a long time but our guards changed his/her mind! Never a dull moment on a farm!
Sounds like you enjoyed yourself like i did today watering and putting in some more brussel and spinach seed. This weather is so wonderful.

Dogs that are allowed to roam drive me nuts and make me mad! We have a house in our cul-de-sac that has pits and when they get home at 11pm lets them run loose because he thinks no one is up and will be effected. Well...at that time of night I am either taking my mom over to her cottage or coming back from there and I opened the door one night to two of them just feet away from me in the yard...pitch black and it freaked me out!!! I was mad. I went to their house the next time I saw them and told them that they needed to be fenced or kept inside. We always kept our dalmations in the fenced backyard and if they accidentley got out we were right on it capturing them within minutes.

How are your chickens???

The day has finally arrived... I have to find a new home for David Bowie.

He was tossed over my fence (along with some siblings) many months ago and I'm not sure of his breed or his age. He's a Silkie something! His four brothers were jerks and were thankfully eaten by a neighbor, but David Bowie has always been a good boy and a joy to have around. Unfortunately for him, the dominant rooster is a game cock so it stands to reason David Bowie is never going to win any hens of his own and could get seriously hurt trying improve his status. If you have room in your flock for this lovable doofus, I'd be happy to bring him to you.
David Bowie that's an awesome name!!! Sorry you have to rehome him but I understand you just can't keep him with your game cock.

Hey Pam - no, Ellijay in Gilmer County, No. Ga. But love getting to know BYC keepers anywhere in Ga. Recently spoke with Elaine at Mountain View Farms about getting some POL pullets next spring. We also spoke of getting together and visiting Taylor Hobby Farms in Dalton. The idea of visiting fellow farms in Georgia would be a great way to get to know everyone. Have a fabulous weekend!
That sounds like loads of fun!!! I would love to do that...I may have to bring my mom with alzheimer's because I care for her 24/7 and sitters costs so much. So do you, Elaine, or Taylor, also have other things like apple orchards for fall? I'm getting excited about the possibilities of us Georgians getting to meet somewhere and getting to know each other. There are some shows this fall too and maybe we could also meet there?

Pam I can't believe that, so sad and it doesn't make sense. I'm just sick for you and sad...sorry friend...
