I know what you mean. I have for the past year been putting up with a neighbor that has his dogs on chains. These are not small dogs and chains don't last forever. I have had to put them back on their chains many times. Just trying to keep the peace. He always apologizes but doesn't put a fence around his yard to contain them.
I've been catching up in this thread, so for the last hour I've read almost 2 weeks worth of posts, LOL. Had to respond to this one.

For 2 years we put up with a "neighbor" who would let his dogs out to do their business. These were little dogs, but aggressive as all get out! Don't have a dog but step in more dog poo than anyone on the block. (this is in the city limits of the little town Aragon, dogs supposed to be fenced or on a leash)

Between me and the lady who lived between me and him, we've called animal control several times to this guy, and he's been warned. The last straw came when I went out to get my mail one morning and his dog comes into my yard running at me growling, teeth bared like it's about to attach it'self to my leg. I yelled at it, which caused him to come outside. I warned him myself I was going to kill his dog, at which point he came out screaming it would be the last thing I'd ever do. I told him I was sick of his dogs, and being worried when the grand daughter came over. His exact words were, "call the law, I don't give a ........" So I called 911 to report make a vicious dog report, and that he'd threatened me.

They sent a county police officer, a city police officer and the animal control officer. I met with the 3 of them on my porch and we had a nice conversation. The three of them then went to knock on his door, and he was issued citations for each of the three dogs that were running loose at the time. He was told flat out that I had the right to protect myself, my family and my property from his dogs, and if his dogs came into my yard and so much as poo'd or dug in the flower bed, I had the right to shoot them. He was also told that I was considering pressing charges (I didn't say anything about that to the police officer, LOL) for his threats against me.

I was told his fines (because of past warnings he'd ignored) were going to be somewhere in the $300 -$500 range, but I don't know that for sure.

Then a few months later, we found this place south of Cedartown in the country and bought it........SO glad to get back to the country. I am currently 'in process' of building a coop to house the 14 chicks I have in the brooder in the kitchen..........

I will be actively keeping up with this thread too, some of y'all are close enough by we should plan a lunch or cookout or something!

I am so glad y'all got away from that guy and his terrors! Our neighbor's dogs are not mean to me but I still I wish our neighbor would put up a fence to keep his dogs in so they would quit getting out so much. I'm so worried one will get some of my chickens. We have a 15 year old Jack Russell Terrier but she stays mostly inside and has a doggie door to go out when she wants into a fenced in area. When the chickens are out she leaves them alone.

A get together sounds like loads of fun!

Robo the new babies are beautiful!

Flower I grilled DS again this morning after seeing your pic, lol. I said, "what color was the bird's underside?" He said, "dark brown, just like its back".

Me Carcar says as soon as DS said it had flown over the roof, he RAN through the house to the back porch and saw nothing. That's why he says no. Sigh.
