YO GEORGIANS! :)

oh the person who had the baby duck I keep forgetting to tell ya to enter it in the baby contest here on BYC maybe you will win something, we will vote for ya.

pertty babies

I had my babies in a pen for the first time today and let them be chicks and scratch around in the grass, while I was cleaning out their house they loved it.

@katsdar these boys are so entertaining. I let them free-range all day (since they're Roos and all).. They think they run the place. Love watching them spar and play, and the Barred Rock boys are so friendly!

yeah I could use that barred rock, my source for BR eggs has dissapeared, and I need to get some hatching eggs , ok I'm making so many typos I'm going to bed I have cleaned 2 pens and one brooder box, cut brambles down from the fence line and anything else the yard needed, the garden got tilled by DH and the car washed etc. etc.thats just on the outside did some stuff inside too yep I'm tired

Okay finally got to take a couple pictures of my Wednesday after work field trip to TSC McDonough. These are 4 of the 6 (2 faded and went to chick heaven) these are strong and very active and yes I know the black skinned one is a silkie…any guesses about the other three..there should be a few Cochins?

So i've got some huge news. My "cochin" that i gave away a few weeks ago because it was supposed to be a cochin rooster turned out to be a bantam brahma...your fat feather footed chick in picture 3 and 4 i believe is a dark or buff brahma bantam. So with that said it looks like a silkie, 2 cochins and a brahma.

Cliff, nice ride. Hope it stays sunny for you!

I called my local feed store and he has plenty of barley seed. Let me know who needs it and how many. It runs about $21.50 when you add the tax.

Ok, so here is the cutest little NN ever! Hatched today from an Olive Egg! Don't you love its cheeks!

Rocky Rhodes and his DW came by today to bring me some hatching eggs! They are beautiful colors! I thought my DH was going to get his rifle out when he saw the eggs! LOL! But, all ended well. We went out to eat dinner together and had a great time talking about chickens......at least Rocky and I did! I think RRs DW wants to join my DHs search for 'the cure'! Thank you Rocky for the eggs! I will get your NN as soon as one hatches and we know it is a female!

The sad thing is it's not really the dogs fault but the inconsiderate neighbors. I hate having to pop a dog with a bb gun but I will if it comes near my chickens. I don't want my animals out of my yard so I can't understand why others don't care about their animals. I would worry my dog would get hit by a car.

absolutel truth!

animals will just do what natures instincts are for them to do. We as humans know this, and should act and restrain accordingly (I have in times past wondered if my neighbors actually were human, but that's another post for another thread somewhere else, LOL)

I put it completely and totally on lack of respect for others. The neighbors don't respect 'you' and 'your property' enough to make sure their dogs don't destroy it. I absolutely LOVE that animal control officers answer "in your yard that's a pet, in his yard it's a predator"..........that sums it up about as well as it could be! I had a police officer tell me once, if you're going to shoot someones dog in your yard, shoot to kill. Don't shoot it with a bb gun, they can get you for cruelty to animals for that, but I have the right to protect my property, even if it means killing the dog that belongs to the thoughtless neighbors!

I finished the coop yesterday enough to get my 8 older (almost 6 week old) chicks out of the brooder box in the kitchen!!!! YAY!

I still have to built the permanent roosts, finish the nest boxes and do my built in feeder, but the lil buggers are at least out of the kitchen. The 6 two week olds are still in here, but just a couple more weeks.......

Ok, so here's a couple of pics.

Amazing how much calmer they get when they have enough room to flap about! Today I took the grand daughter down there and showed her their 'new house', we were sitting there on what's left of the straw bale, and once we settled in, the chicks came right over to us, one even climbed my leg as far as my knee and sat there and looked at us! Of course my phone/camera was in my pocket.........

I do have a water bucket with the chicken nipples on the bottom of it, I failed to remember to buy what I need to hang it in the coop. The biggest lie I tell myself regularly is 'I don't have to write that down, I'll remember it"...........HA

for anyone who wants to see my coop build, I have a thread over in the coop maintenance and design section, "future coop and run"

tomorrow, I start on the run
