"Poultry, Goat & Small Animal Auction - Sale Every Friday Night At 7:00 Pm- Goats & Sheep Sell First Then Poultry To Follow - We Are A Cash Only Sale"

we should try and plan an outing in a few weeks
I have a question for you ma'am. The eggs I have I started keeping out of the fridge this past saturday, so up to 10 days, right? if I bring you those sunday or monday, they should still be good to go? We're going to the lake friday and saturday night, but will be home some time sunday afternoon, so time I get my friday sat and sunday eggs, I'll have plenty for Kat and me, if you wanna put some in for feathersaloft, find out how many she wants :)

I have used eggs that were almost 3 weeks old and had a good hatch rate, didn't let the eggs get above 55-60 and I also kept them moving so the yolks didn't get stuck but you being gone for a few days shouldn't hurt them anyway. If they are meant to hatch they will hatch
Thought I would share this cuteness.the girls came running when when we got home from school, Dorothy couldn't even wait for me to get the kids out of the car!

So cute and they say chickens are dumb, that comes from people who don't know our birds. I hope you print this pic for future memories

Wow!  What a time you and your chickens have had.  I think I would have just run away from home :barnie

Trust me! I have come quite close to firebombing this place & jumping in the car & driving to CA!

i swear, whenever we take on something new, it's always trial by fire. Anything and eveything that can ever go wrong, whether we prepare for it or not, usually does and it's like being thrown to the wolves. Every. Single. Time.
But, the run & coop are finally done(i have one minor repair to fix), if I can get the rest of my to do list done tomorrow and all the birds behave and all that, I'll go to Nashville for the weekend, worry my butt off about them and hopefully manage to have a little bit of fun. If my husband takes me to the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, I'll be a happy camper. As of right now, i wish my awimming pool was filled with it.

That's funny, and I hope your DH will take you to Lynchburg as for me I have not been able to drink JD or any whiskey, scotch etc since I was very stupid as a kid and got in to the parents stash, can't even to this day get past the smell, tho it is better least I don't wretch anymore just smelling it on someone or in a glass

My mother took one look at me and said I hope your good and sick, Dad came home and asked me if I wanted some fried eggs, yeah they figured they didn't need to punish me, I did that myself

Sheesh! I'm thankful I've never had that experience! I have some friends who have similar stories from high school. The funniest one is a friend who went to a party one summer when his friend's parents were out of town. Apparently, he can never ever even smell tequila without being sick. He says he woke up in the bushes in the front yard to the sounds of all the neighbors getting in their cars to go to work. He was all scratched up.

The only thing I can't stand is cheap Tequila. That makes me wretch. And it makes me want to punch people in the throat. So I just stay away from it.

it's for the best.

I love their smiling happy faces, and the chicken's not bad, either. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the laugh, this morning. PLEASE go to Nashville and Lynchburg and "let the world go away"!

Yes. I know someone who works for Homeland Security and she says more than ever she just wants to buy a farm off the beaten path and fill it with animals and just forget that the rest of the world is out there!

Hi everyone! Been a while since I've posted, summer kept us busy. I hope everybody has had a nice one!
My little cockerel has grown into a handsome roo. He only tried to get me one time, and as he sidled on up to me, I poked him. He ran off so fast! Hasn't tried anything since then.

I also, finally, got my Swedish Flower pullet. The kids named her Daisy, and she is just as sweet as can be.

On a sad note, we had to put down one of our hens last night. My eldest daughter is pretty distraught, as it was her chicken. She had stopped laying, and last night I discovered her listless with a swollen vent (covered in maggots). I was pretty sure she was either egg bound, or had a broken egg inside, so I made the call to put her down. It wasn't the first time she had egg issues. She was a wonderful hen. I don't think my husband handled the, errrrr, euthanasia so hot. He was the one who had to swing the ax, and being a city boy, he had never seen a chicken butchered/put down. But, he did what needed to be done. We couldn't let her suffer another day.

Other then that, life is good!
