Hatched 32 chicks out of 41 eggs , got 9 buff brahma bantam chicks from 11 eggs. We have had a rainy weekend, we are about 50 miles west of Savannah.
Great hatch!!!!

Well our 4 year old woke us up at 4 puking and I checked on the little fuzzy and it didn't make it. The other little guy is doing fine, just lonely.
So sorry about little fuzzy!

I hope your baby feels better soon. It can be scary for a child at that age. I remember how my boy was scared when he threw up. He didn't know what was happening to him.

Yep this has happened to her before, the last time no one else got it so maybe no one will get sick this time either. And I am glad its the weekend so my hubs is here to help. She seems fine this morning. I think here in a bit when I head out to the store, I am going to stop by the feed store to grab a friend for our little weasel, I don't want him to be alone. Now to focus on my next batch of huge brown eggs. I want them to hatch on their own. Assisted hatching is not for me! My very first hatch had 1 make it and it was a picture perfect hatch! But our wiener dog killed him :(

Probably that 24 hr bug. My cousin and her 3 kids had it a couple weeks ago. Poor babies!

Maybe she'll feel better as the day progresses!

I want to buy some babies everytime I go to the feed store, I have to restrain myself though! LOL! It gets harder everytime!

Aww! poor baby! My small dogs to good with the big chickens, but I bet given half a chance they would kill a baby one!

We have a 4 month old lab mix and she wants nothing to do with the babies, but will chase the big hens around. Doesn't seem like she will hurt them just wants to chase them. She is a great dog. But the wiener dog got our big hen (an EE) and injured her. We have her inside with us right now to make sure she is eating and drinking. Right after he got her I put her in the hen house part of the coop and she hasn't been out of it for 2 days so I am giving her some of the sav-a-chick water. She hasn't had any but right when we brought her in she went right for the dog bowl so she has had some water. I would love another bantam but I don't know if they have any.

I have a black lab that I have to chain up when we let our chickens free range. I don't know if she is trying to play with them (she is very playful) or kill them ( she hates cats and has killed em before). But just to be sure. She went to chase after my banty rooster one time, I stopped her but my sisters white english bull dog got him and killed him.
I hope that your girl perks up and does better! It's sad enough when they just die, but for something to kill them it seems worse for me.
I have one cochin bantam and would love to have more. They are so pretty!
