YO GEORGIANS! :)

I was 7 when we moved from there and was taken to the Saints game only pro-ball game I have to this day seen live.  I remember the amusement park on lake Pontachain ( I'm sure I've spelled it wrong) they had a ride that after several accidents and deaths  they finally took it down, it was the one that used to jump the tracks all the time and end up in the lake"The Wild Mouse" and then I remember Hurricane Camille came through.

Explain "gum bands" and "Jagger bushes"
The amusement park is now closed and all signs of it are gone. Gum bands is Pittsburghese for rubber band and Jagger bushes are thorn bushes.

Kat, I agree that it was from the tick. We think it was an immune response. Today is day 7 of antibiotics, so she'll go back in the coop tonight. My roo went after my husband this week. He got freaked out by the plastic bag my husband had in his hand, and while Vince had his back turned, he felt something pecking his leg. When he turned around, Baymax puffed out, and tried scratching him. I'm torn on what to do now. I know Baymax thought he was protecting his ladies ( they were all around him) from the evil plastic bag. Unfortunately, my husband took off instead of making Baymax back down. We'll see what happens. I don't want to process him, or re home, since Hawks are really bad this time of year.

On a happy note, my friend in Texas just had a nice hatch. So at Thanksgiving, when I drive out to help my sis with her new baby, I get some new chickies! 2 Partridge Silkies and an Olive Egger. She has white Silkies as well, so I'm torn. This is her site:

My daughters are going to love the Silkies!

Anyone familiar with or know about Ohki or Phoenix breed of bantam chickens. Can't seem to find a lot of information on these breeds. Thanks

Hi Folk...if you remember I'm new to keeping chickens this year and have a couple of questions for folks that are experienced. I have 20 hens + one rooster that are 6 months + 1 week of age. I got my first egg 5 weeks ago and I'm getting 15 a day now for the past 5 days. Does that seem average or will this number go up and down? For you folks that sell your eggs, how did you go about getting your customers. My chickens are free range over 10 acres and have food, oyster shells and grit available inside the coop and out and have all been very healthy, we got them as day old and still have all. I know I can search for some answers but prefer to get the info from my GA neighbors. Thanks!

14 Buff Orpingtons
5 Black Australorps
1 Easter Egger
1 BO rooster

Sounds about right for this time of year. Remember it takes 24-26 hours from one egg to the next, if that time falls at dusk or overnight they obviously won't lay till the next morning. shorter daylight hours will cut the number of eggs per day.

Some will provide extra light to prolong the day so to speak, but to me, thats interfering with nature giving them a break.... Which is why i won't do it.

I have picked up my customers on craigslist and word of mouth. I do give away some too, as I have some neighbors who need all the help they can get

I made a facebook page for my eggs. Put some pics of the girls, and some pics of dozens of eggs.
I sell for $3/doz and rarely have more than a dozen at my house.
I have a few customers who buy me out regularly.

And baby donk has a name. Her parents are Mary Margaret Guadalupe and Jose Cuervo (these are the names they came with) So baby is Margarita, or Rita for short :)
Since momma donkey doesn't mind if I borrow her, I took Rita to TSC in Cartersville to look for halters.
You know the smallest horse ones, labelled 'foal' are for 100-200 lbs. Not even close!
This is a sheep halter. Doesn't exactly fit right, but the idea is just for her to be used to be handling her head. So I put it on and take it off in about 10 minutes.
And my sheep will wear it afterwards. :)

OMG that's too cute!!
