YO GEORGIANS! :)

Here she is with a cockerel who I'm *pretty* sure came from the "Black/Lav/Split" hatch from the same lady.. It was hard to keep those straight but given his age in relation to the silver laced, that's the only thing he could be. He's pretty cute too.

Bantam Cochin Fever!! You are welcome!

Mine have gone broody again but they only have one egg each
I originally had 4 AM hens. The last of the originals has gone broody. She's in isolation, in my chicken tractor in the garden. She is NOT happy about it, but, the last one that went broody got to spend some time alone out there. She spent 3 wonderful days and nights in the fabulous Garden setting chicken tractor, where she had fresh tilled dirt to scratch around in, weeds to pick from to fill all her hearts desires. A fresh 'single hen' size water container, refilled daily for her drinking pleasure. A luxurious blue tarp canopy for shade to shelter herself from all of natures elements.

yet, did she appreciate all this hard work the staff did to accomodate her special needs? NO, she sulked up and bowed her feathers out at the chief of staff every time he walked by. She refused to eat the fine greens provided for her. She totally neglected the fresh tilled soft dirt to roll and dust bathe in. She overlooked completely any and all fresh crawling protein sources made available to her.....

but at the end of her stay, she went back in the coop with other hens, and promptly started laying eggs again within 2 days.

so, as much as I'm getting the same treatment from this last girl, she'll go back with the others tomorrow night when I can take her straight in to the roost, and we'll see if I'm not getting eggs from her again by mid week. If she decides she still wants to sit on the nest, the garden accomodations will be refreshed and relocated between a couple other rows. Change of scenery you know......
