YO GEORGIANS! :)

And more!

Thelma, she will be an Olive Egger. Lavender Am roo for dad and Black Marans is the mom! She is only 4 months old. Can't wait for her eggs!

Lacey is a Silver Laced Wyandotte. She has been red faced for about 2 months, but she is one of the ones who always hops over the fence. The few times we actually kept her in, she never left an egg, so not sure if she is laying or just hiding her eggs in the yard.

Louise. Thelma and Louise have the same parents. They are inseparable. They look almost identical except that Louise has the redder comb and Thelma has a blackish one. They both escape everyday and go on their "trips" around the yard. That's how they got their names.....like the movie. She will lay olive eggs, too! Can't wait!

Roger is my young Crested Cream Legbar roo. He is standing behind Butterscotch, my Orp/Brahma mix (from Lady Who).

Well, all for now ....... until my next photo shoot! hahahhahah!

Happy Tuesday everyone! If you woke up this morning with a hankering for some roosters, I have got some good ones for you! Our 4 silkie chicks that we were positive we would have 50/50 odds of hens vs. roosters all turned into boys!! I have two buffs, one white, one splash/gray. They are approx. 5 months old, 3 out of 4 are crowing in the morning only, all are beautiful! No signs of aggression yet. I have more pictures here: http://www.meetup.com/chickens/messages/boards/thread/50203148

Also... I really want some silkie/frizzles hens. This is my third attempt and I keep getting males. Anyone have a source for some females?

I also have a beautiful EE roo who is also 5 months old. He has a gray tail with orange saddle feathers, very pretty young man. More dets here: http://www.meetup.com/chickens/messages/boards/thread/50203152

Guys, I don't need 5 roosters. In fact I'm fairly certain I am breaking Atlanta law with 5 roos in my backyard. I'm located just south of downtown Decatur.

How much?

Thank you for posting pictures of all your lovely chickens, @Flowerbh! They're beautiful. It's always so cool seeing the genetics in play! Remind me to get some more eggs from you next year! I need more frizzles!!

Free to a good home!
I only "need" one but if you need them gone I can find space for them. I've had lots of Atlanta roosters come out to my place. I usually end up rehoming (free) most of them but only to good homes. I do egg hatching classes with some of the schools around here ... I could make a point of doing Silkie eggs one of these days then could get some chicks to you. We'll get you some girls eventually. haha

How fun to do egg hatching with the schools! I have had some in and out interest in them, but no one has committed to actually coming over and picking them up. I am mainly concerned about them starting to fight with each other. I've never had more than one roo at a time, so I'm not sure when that starts kicking in. You are welcome to as many as you want! I am hopeful I will eventually find them homes, so no pressure to take them all if you don't want them. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] if you want to see them. I am two miles south of Decatur.

Remember that silky I had brooding some eggs that failed utterly at keeping them? Well we did manage to hatch out 2 of the 3 remaining eggs but I had more due to hatch about a week and a half later so on a whim I threw those 2 chicks into a brooder and let the rest of the batch hatch.

Well, bless her little broody heart, Poof has stayed on the nest and her golfballs for almost 5 weeks!! I put the first two chicks from the hatch under her last night and she's accepted them! I'm going to put the rest under her tonight and hopefully she'll accept all 11 chicks (including the 2 older chicks) and I can be brooder free until spring!

Here she is with one of her new foster babies, a 50% polish, 25% Brahma 25% who-knows chick! I can't wait to see what some of these babies look like all grown.

400
