Would eggs be included in the order? Can an egg get the flu? Or would the virus be able to survive on the shell and be transmitted?

I go in Monday to court, and I won't be staying, I actually have an attorney working the case, I know I'm nuts but my girls should be able to free range in the country, NO JAIL BIRDS HERE!!!!Hmmmmm...was your post sent from the Big Coop, or did you safely make back home?![]()
Eggs aren't poultry so eggs would be ok but the little fluffy things may not go, might depend on what state they are coming from.Today the State "vet ordered a suspension of poultry exhibitions, shows, sales (auction markets, flea markets), swaps and meets. Due to the presence of HPAI in neighboring states."
What does that mean for individuals? One on one practicing bio-security?
Does that mean Georgia is going to shut down mail-order chicks and eggs entering the state?
This flustered newbie is now wondering how the heck all this works?![]()
I'm getting a little concerned because I have some silver-lace orpington eggs that I'm supposed to fetch in Alabama next week, and I don't want the deal to not happen. I'm going to call the breeder tomorrow morning to make sure everything is still a go, but this potential quarantine has me a bit nervous. I also have some crele orpington eggs I'm picking up from a breeder in GA next week, but I think I should be in the clear on that one. I'll be VERY disappointed if either of these arrangements fall through.![]()
I was wondering the very same thing, may depend on where they are shipping fromHmmm ... I wonder if the turkeys are going to make it here next week?
I would think because of the bloom the inside of the egg would be protected, and it is transmitted via dropping so clean the eggs up they make special egg wipes.Would eggs be included in the order? Can an egg get the flu? Or would the virus be able to survive on the shell and be transmitted?
I thought that was called a spatula....I would think because of the bloom the inside of the egg would be protected, and it is transmitted via dropping so clean the eggs up they make special egg wipes.

so Monday will be kind of a non-event as we will deny the citation at that time and they will set the case down for a further hearing per my attorney!!! I'm so happy, so very happy!!!

Great news on your court case, katsdar.![]()
We'll be ordering eggs from Meyer, in Ohio. It was the only place and only way I could find partridge rocks if I wanted them this year.
katsdar just shakes her headI thought that was called a spatula....

let us know what happensI was just asking about this in another section and someone pointed me here. I have two mail swaps set up with people. I think I'm going to call the hotline tomorrow and ask. I don't have a lot of chickens and I technically don't sell eggs, just trade them, so I don't have my NPIP yet, but I was also going to call and get that appointment set up. All my chickens are in covered runs, so I think we are safe from the disease that way, but it's better to be extra safe than sorry.
