YO GEORGIANS! :)

Thirty days after they were ordered, the chicken nipples finally arrived from the slow boat from China. At just under 21¢ apiece, it wasn't a bad deal, especially since I wasn't ready to start the water-system project just yet. However, no more China orders in the future.

Hey Y'all

Still loving my buffs. I don't know if I can ever get another breed after these ones. They are so cute and quiet. I had to move them inside the garage for a night due to noticing some big flaws in construction. Finishing a chicken coop in the dark, with little light, is a bad idea! It's was God's divine intervention that they lasted that first night.

I also ran into a piece of our gate the night I bought them in. I thought I saw a coon on the roof of the coop. It was a part of the roof that I wanted to fix and I thought a coon saw the spot because it was walking on the roof. I tried to back into the backyard with my SUV but backing in with a SUV isn't my best skill I guess. I just started driving my dad's SUV after his recent passing. WELL we now have a bent, kinda off of the hinges gate door.

Anyway I was rushing back there to save my chickens. I realize that I didn't have any weapon to get the coon with because we don't have any guns in our new home yet. Ironically, the night before my boyfriend was just saying we need to get some for any predators we encounter in our yard. My solution to this was to tell my mom, who was over visiting,to jump in my the truck with me. She was like "what am I going to do???", I said idk just get in so I don't have to be by myself. It's a coon on the roof and it's going to kill them all!

After rushing back there....I realize it was the big gray and black cat from the neighbor's house. We laughed and told the cat to get. The cat somehow forgot how to get down. We then awkwardly helped the enemy get back home with encouragement.

This chicken owning is a wild ride.

BTW, what's the rules for owning quails only for eggs? I called different departments in GA and each of them only said I need a license if I'm breeding or releasing. The state vet office told me to check with my city to see but my city ordinances doesn't mention anything past chickens. That could be my searching skills. Can somebody help me with this? There's a ranch near by the sales goats, chickens, and quail. I asked the owner about Stockbridge ordinances but he lives in Rockdale so he only knows about their rules. My next bird venture is quail owning. I want their eggs for personal consumption and may sell some eggs too.

Sure post isn't any better!! But the nipple system is great!! I have a 30 gal tank set up with mine it will go 2 weeks without running out and chickens always have clean water to drink I bought abt 40 myself I use 1 for every 6 birds and for my other run I'm building I have a second 30 gallon tank for it also I paid about 6 dollars for the tank about the same for the nipples and for the pvc pipe about 10 dollars so it cost about 20 dollars total for the whole system not bad for what you get!!

Have you had any problems with leaky nipples? That's my biggest concern. I also plan to construct a gravity-fed system and still need to get some tanks. The main reason I've decided to switch to nipples is for mosquito control.

Dang. I got two fancyish chicks to keep my lone turkey poult company and they both are boys. They both have pink wattles at 3 weeks old. :( I have no luck getting pullets with straight run. So if anyone needs a silver laced wyandotte or barnavelder cockerel, let me know. I don't want to process them when they are so pretty. But I'll have no use for them in a few weeks.
I think they have a swap page onbyc

I had one to leak but changed it out and all has been good. I have mine down at the moment enlarging the coop and run and decided to clean it as well I have had it up a year with only the one nipple leaking. I went with the ines that clamp around the pvc pipe a 5/16 drill bit and your good to go

BTW, Cyn, that SAVA HD camera is now up to $85.75 on Amazon, so I'm holding off on the purchase for now.

Yes, I mentioned that a few posts back, or was it 50? You guys sure can talk! I think they raised it the moment my review hit the site, sorry about that. If it had occurred to me they would do that, I'd have waited a bit. Someone needs to give you an Amazon gift card. But, for one with a view screen and the resolution it has, it's still not a bad price. Do what I do. Put it in your cart and leave it there. Later on, you may go back and they'll tell you the cart price on one of your items has changed, hopefully reduced.
