Next week answer if our silkies hatch from ours. got fingers crossed.
I have a 10 month old barred rock that did that. Here in NW FL we go from 90-100 degrees to 75 and torrential rain. :-/. She stopped laying for about three weeks and I think she laid an egg yesterday again. My Buff Orpington has been a champ and consistently laid during that time.Has anyone else been having hen to stop laying eggs? I have two 18 month old hens, a barred rock that hasn't laid an egg in 6 weeks and an EE who stopped laying 2 weeks ago? It's not all that hot! Only in the 80's, but lots and lots of rain. What gives? They are too young to stop laying!
Yep! I love living out here!Cool! We must be neighbors, plainville is so small!
Yea, the rain made a mucky mess of our runs, too. Went in and put 3 inches of sand, then topped that off with 3 inches of wood shavings. Then, sprinkled DE all over. Soooo much better! Even with the rain, it is cleaner! No mucky mess, just damp sand! My hens must like it a lot better, too...more eggs today than in a long time!
I have no clue where plainsville is, but I will say out of everywhere I've lived (SoCal, WA, SC, HI, NM, MI) it is my favorite. Edit: it should have been GA. Georgia is my favoriteYep! I love living out here!![]()
