YO GEORGIANS! :)

I finally gave up any hope that the rest of my eggs would hatch today. It makes me really sad, and I'm sure that there are a few factors at play. Bator has gone in for service and I'm hoping it will be back soon. Not the happiest ending, but now that it has ended, I guess I don't need to sit around hoping anymore.

I know how hard that is, Liv. Hugs.

I'm not sure where that is. I ended up finding a guy on Craigslist who just gave me three eggs out of his incubator, which was nice. I popped them under her broody buns and hope that she keeps on them for another week. Currently formulating 4th of July chicken names. Paul Revere, but Reeva if she's a lady? Betsy Ross - Betsy for a hen, Ross for a Roo?

I like your Independence Day themed names idea. Francis Scott Key could be Fran or Frannie for a pullet. TJ for Thomas Jefferson?

John Hancock, of course, being the obvious rooster name- but Hannah for a pullet?

The guy I got them from says there are two red dominique eggs in my little clutch. I've searched through the forums and there's a bunch of conflicting info, but the only people claiming to be breeding them are here in GA. It's pretty weird that it's so localized. Anyone know anything about this? I don't much care what breeds I have, I just like having a few gals in the yard and eggs on the table...but the mystery of GA red dominiques has me intrigued.

So I'm at Dr appts this morning and while waiting....I was thinking, I must have the most disabled chickens in my coop than anyone I know...lol. I got one that I just realized is either deaf or partially deaf, one with a neck tumor, and another with scissor beak...geesh!
I have a scissor beak, too. It's that awful looking Polish pullet that a friend got from Ace Hardware for me...gee, thanks!!!! Just got out of Dr. appt with my son and now home to tend the chickens and work on leveling my coop floor which will take at least 4 more loads of dirt. I was outside for 2 minutes--TOPS--and I found a tick crawling up my back! WHAT IN THE WORLD?! These lone star ticks are terrifying me---I cannot afford to suddenly be allergic to steak!
