YO GEORGIANS! :)

Had a bit of a surprise today with the Muscovy. We figured the hatch was finished, but here on day 39!, Lisa found a very healthy duckling in the incubator. Here's a few photos of the miracle duckling:

The Muscovy hatch was not a successful one by any stretch, but we're happy to have at least two ducklings out of the lot. They've already been sold.

The last batch of Ayam Cemani hatching eggs went into lockdown today. If I can get at least 5 chicks to hatch from the remaining 11 hatching eggs, I'll consider it a success. :fl

We went up to North GA and saw the total solar eclipse which was pretty neat. And then we stumbled upon Goats on the Roof, which was probably the highlight of my weekend. It's the little things that give me a thrill. Here's my favorite picture of the eclipse, which is before totality. There's a reflection of the partially covered sun to either side of the bright glare. Then a couple of the Goats on the Roof.

Thank you everyone for filling my life with intresting things and new information about chickens in general.

Thank you all and see you guys this summer (I'll still be watching this thread but I'm not going to post.)

Sounds like you made a great family day out of the event. We've passed by Big Billy's before but never stopped there. When Becky and Randy built their two-story goat palace, that's the first place that came to my mind. lol

Christopher and I had a great time looking at the eclipse from our backyard. He was super excited because it's the first solar eclipse that he has experienced. It would have been nice to have seen the total eclipse like y'all got to see. In May 1984 we had an annular eclipse pass over New Orleans, and that was the first solar eclipse I had ever experienced. It's an awesome natural phenomenon.

With the moon moving away from the Earth about two inches each year, in about 600-million years there will no longer be any total solar eclipses, only annular. If I'm still around, I'll try to verify that for you.

Hey, I plan to have a homemade egg crate for you when you return for Christmas break. No charge. I'll try to leave it with @Flowerbh . Hope you have a fun time at college! :frow

We've sold just about all our birds. We still have the Black Satin Silkie boy with the Birchen hackles, the Black Satin Silkie girl with the copper hackles, and the YUUGE Chocolate Cuckoo Orpington, Smokey. Sale of Phoebe and Petunia is pending.

We also have some chicken-related items in which some of you may be interested:

(3) Little Giant 9300 Still air incubators w/ egg turners @ $75 each
(2) Vintage commercial sheet-metal nesting boxes (5 boxes in row) complete with pads @ $50 each
(5) 40" dog crates (all purchased this year) @ $40 each

Drop me a PM if you're interested in any of the above items. I'm sure I'll have some other odds and ends available soon. A special thanks to all of you who purchased birds from us. I'd much rather our BYC friends have them than anyone else!
