Put the eggs in lockdown and already have one pipping!!! Weird!Just put my eggs in lockdown and discovered two eggs have already pipped internally! What's with that?? Chicks not due until Saturday.. Premmies!
Most likely. The idea is that you are supposed to hatch more females with a higher temp! LOL Will let you know how it turns out!Was your temp high?
I thought that was lower temps and it's said to be because the male embryos are weaker so they die in the process before hatching. Did you lose some developing eggs along the way? Most likely. Darn, your right! How did I get that fact reversed? Yes, I just lost a few overnight.....Well, I have 3 or 4 parties interested in these chicks already, so probably will never know how many are boy and how many are girls! Well, next time I will decrease the temp!I thought that was lower temps and it's said to be because the male embryos are weaker so they die in the process before hatching. I think a clue it /might/ work is if a few embryos (or I guess ideally half) die during incubation. I can't remember if I ever read a final result from anyone, so I'm curious how it'll go for you. If my cream legbars ever start laying again, I could test it on them. Then I'd know right at hatch if only females survived the lower temps. But then again, who knows if you'd end up with unhealthy chicks from not incubating at ideal temps.Darn, your right! How did I get that fact reversed? If it really worked don't you think the hatcheries would be doing it all the time. I've had a few incubations with lower temps and the only thing I could tell different was it took longer to hatch and had more weak chicks.I think a clue it /might/ work is if a few embryos (or I guess ideally half) die during incubation. hahahah! I agree. I do like when they hatch a little early! So far, the few Legbars that hatched are mostly girls! I have one boy and one weird white one??? Don't know where that one came from, but it was the first one to hatch (the really early one) and it is yellowish white....does not look like a legbar at all! It came from a friend of mine who has only legbars! Have you guys ever hatched out one that didn't really have any color to it? I would guess it is a boy at any rate.If it really worked don't you think the hatcheries would be doing it all the time.
