YO GEORGIANS! :)

I think it would be awesome if one of those little "swap" deals be arranged in the south georgia area. i would like to to attend one and meet people from this forum (i dont have much of a social life lol).

That would be great to meet with real chicken people, not the ones that come to visit and try to pick one of your hens for dinner! I visit the sell in Pearson sometimes. They have it the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month. I am just really cautious about cleaning my tires and changing clothes after for fear of diseases.

How are you and your flock? Hope you made it through that Polar Vortex with no losses. Now if we can only get through the weekend tornado free- I hope to see normal So. GA weather for a while.

Pretty nasty here. It blew down a half dead tree covered in vines. Thunder was so bad it shook the house and scared me out of my sleep.

Only in the south can we go from polar vortex to tornado weather in the same week. SMH
And then back to mid-summer two days later, like in November where it was in the 20's one night, and 80 degrees a few days later.

Chickie- what size eggs do EE usually lay? Are they small compared to "store" eggs?

..and what do you mean you "check" her? Pelvis? I don't think my BO is laying but not sure how to figure it out...

Check her pelvis by placing your fingers between the bones. It is better I you know how wide the pelvis of a laying hen is.

There are some in South Georgia. I don't remember where they are listed. We need Flowerbh. She knows.

Done! She is definitely not laying, IMO. I could only got two fingers between the bones and everything is quite rigid/non-pliable.

Olive (BSL #1) felt best.. I can fit like my whole hand between and her flesh just squishes in. No surprise as she is my most reliable girl. :) However her fluffy bum is FILTHY!! (Do I need to fix that or will she!? lol)

BSL #2 feels pretty good as does the RSL, although they aren't quite like Olive. But I don't really wonder about them as there are days I get three eggs.. The BO was my most suspicious.

All in all I think I left the three scaredy cats more than sufficiently miffed, and Olive was confused about me scaring the others. It was neat to see her being almost protective of them.. She was in my face the whole time and even "bit" (not hard) my hand once, lol.

We'll see if I made them upset enough to withhold eggs today :p
