We are in Floyd Co. There is a lot of damage, but we were blessed to have everything still standing. Over the past few weeks we have had a lot of storms and power outages and I think the other storms knocked most of our un-sound trees down. My husband works for the Police Dept one county SE of us and seen 2 tornadoes first hand. They were not on the ground, but it was scary for him and his shiftmates. When he got off work this morning he had to take alternate routes to get home. He also took some pictures of the damage.....it was hard to look at, farms, chicken houses, homes destoryed and even cows that lost their lives.

Makes me even more thankful that we are all safe. The whole family is praying for those still missing and loved ones lost.
 
We're fine, just branches and trash from the winds!!! I thought I had lost the bottom of my incubator, which I washed and was air drying, Happily it got caught in the tall grass of the front yard! Fox farms down near LaGrange got destroyed. I'm still trying to reach them. I don't know if they were byc or not. My relatives in North Alabama had property loss but they are alive and well and that's what matters. I thought it was strange when we had a tornado in downtown Atlanta in Spring 2008 but this was really really much more devastating.

On another note, we have sales day Saturday afternoon at the Garry Farm and will sell hatching eggs, baby chicks, bunnies, ducklings and more - including milk, eggs, veggies, natural honey, etc. If you need an addres please pm me or I'll post a link to Craigslist ad later today. You can see our humongous poultry and other animals and bring a lunch to have fun. I'll try to make some goodies by tomorrow but no promises must pick 2 acres of veggies first. If anyone is close and would like to come to the cook-out and hatching egg hunt. There is a link below we hope to have around 15 dozen or more egg to hide. Lonesome pine Farms is donating a couple dozen and so am I plus the one the guests are bring. I am think there is going to be over 300 hatching egg to hide.

Hi everyone, I'm Jon and I live in Roswell. We're allowed to have 6 chickens based on my lot size (about half an acre). I only have three right now. The plan is to start with 3 and after a couple years get some more. My girlfriend won't let me eat them when they stop laying, and I don't want to end up with 6 chickens that aren't laying, so we're trying to stagger our acquisitions. Hopefully by the time we have 6 non-laying chickens, we'll live somewhere else or can give them away to a good home.
 
Hi JOn I used to live in Buckhead and I went 100% country - smile.... Don't worry about those non layers, but when you are ready for some new girls, I would recommend some wheaten marans, they are so gentle and lay the darkest chocolate colored egg!!! I have some baby chicks now and bringing down another hatch in incubator soon.

Shelly it sounds like fun!!! X2farm I'll see what Fox farms needs in a rebuild. I'll donate hens/roos/eggs whatever.... I'll check with Ashley and see what details she might have.

It's so quiet in my duck pen.....I sold the senior ducks (the older mothers) today and 1 drake. Now I know who was doing all the quacking.... I'm a little sad it's so quiet, but with the new ducks coming up it was going to get a bit wild and I don't overcrowd any of our animals!

Well, the veggies are picked, the eggs are washed, goat milk strained and in jars,,,,,Just about ready for the farmers market! leaving at 6:00 am to help the new manager set up, Jacque and I have left the part time job as managers so we can focus on the farm! and we get 45 minutes more rest on Saturday...Tomorrow afternoon the farm opens for sales and whewwww we have baby chicks Here's info on the farm sales:

I have an advance appointment with a gentleman interested in all our pumpkin hulsey babies... So he's getting an excellent deal at $8...
I still have awesome Easter Eggers - many in chocolate, orange, deep blue and light blue, some almost purplish...Just gorgeous, and many more chicks, keets, poults and ducklings.

Well it was a gorgeous day and we had three awesome volunteers from another farm...Jacque and I fixed a country lunch and his brisquet barbeque rocked. Well, if you need hatching eggs, remember we have plenty.....Shannon your event sounds like fun.... I have 8 egg boxes scheduled for departure monday but I can still use more buyers for hatching eggs....Our hens love these warm sunny days!

if anyone is looking for chickens, turkeys, peafowl or ducklings plus hatching eggs of the above I have a supplier in Buena Vista. They are wonderful people and are on byc as well but prefer to keep it local interms of selling stuff ( well, local and ebay!)

Let me know via PM if you'd like their info, they have many of the 'rare' breeds and their birds are exquisite.
