YO GEORGIANS! :)

Just candled my Ameraucana Australorp mixes turns out they may not be as far along as I thought. It's so hard to see through the shells. I have (4) standard buff/blue Cochins that are at 14 days and are bouncing around nicely. There would have been 6 but the hens had a dispute over who was going to sit on the nest and cracked two of them:( They have 24 nest boxes and 4 baskets and they had to fight when I put eggs in. I have (6) white laced bantam Cochins that are at 14 days that look awesome. In bator #2, I have (6) BBS English Orpingtons at 7 days. We started with 19, they had a rough time getting to me. I also have (1) black Ameraucana that is 7 days and developing well. Last, I have (9) Brahma Ameraucana mixes at (7) days that are developing well. Bator # 3 will be loaded this week with (10) Buff Laced, Gold Laced, Blue Laced Brahmas from Taylor Hobby Farms. So excited about getting those. It will also have 10 pure wheaten Ameraucana eggs going in it. This is going to be interesting. I may be selling some of them later. I already have 30 + 3 Rouen ducks.

I am heartsick. I went out today and took all sorts of cute photos of my 9 week old Salmon Faverolle with her duck family. They brooded together and were inseparable! I came inside to post the photos on the Faverolle thread and also wrote to the lady I got the eggs from to share with her. Then, when I went outside to put my babies away, I found a hawk eating her! I just can't believe it! Why does this have to happen! She was so cute and so sweet! The ducks are upset, too. They are squawking like they have never done! Here are the photos I took of her just a few hours ago!

Now, I will have to find another Salmon Faverolle. I just sold all the others I had because I just wanted one....her! Won't sleep tonight!

Wow, there are a lot of posts on here. I plan to take the time to start from the beginning when I have more time, but to start, I'm in Habersham County. Anyone else in this area?
I do have a question I 'hope' to resolve today as am working on getting nesting boxes ready today. What is the material of choice you all are using for the bottom of the nesting boxes, and why did you choose that particular one?
Thanks so much!!

How utterly horrible! I cannot imagine how sad you are. We have one, she isn't the beautiful light coloring of yours, but we do love her. I'm so very sorry!
