I hate pine straw. I've had horrible luck with it. I've had one of my chickens get stabbed by it and it get infected.

Where did they get stuck at?

Under their wing in the soft part of their skin. It wasn't silkies though. It was a Cornish I had a while back. After that had happened I took it out and never dared to use it again.
