Thanks ab and mrsd'szoo, I have always been confused with that, but know I know that Cinnamon and Sugar are Easter Eggers.![]()
Does anyone else name their chickens?
Maybe @GAMarans
can tell you what they call this in the Great White North... ;-)
I ROFL every time I hear my mother-in-law say it.
I free range so they don't need as much commercial feed. I also grow fodder (wheat and flax sprouts) for them and the rabbits. I usually spend $30-$45 every 10 days.
You will love SLW!! Beautiful birds. So the other day Dad tells me the chickens are getting to be too much work, and we have enough chickens (this after spending several hours working on a chicken tractor). He just called me from TSC asking if I wanted some SLW chicks!!!Muhahahaha!! I think he's caught the chick 'bug'
Funny, I thought he was immune...![]()
I love the names! I have named all of my chickens, the previous flock of 12 which had all coffee related names, and the current flock. I think it is some sort of initiation of becoming "real" chicken keepers. lol My flock consists of
Cinnamon and Sugar- the sweet Easter Eggers
Pepper- the mean sometimes/ nice sometimes Barred Rock
Princess Cleo- Pepper's accomplice and Rhode Island Red
Cute names!
I named my first flock, but I only had like 11 or 12 chickens. Now I have nearly 40, with more on the way. I can't remember that many names. Besides, I'll be eating some of my birds, and I just don't want to sit down to a fried chicken dinner thinking "we're eating Lizzie!"
