I'm really loving the lavender buffs!!! So beautiful.

I really love lavenders, they're beautiful. I saw some roosters at TC Country, but they're roosters and my neighbors would absolutely kill me if I got one

I'm leaning towards the RIR

I personally don't like RIRs at all for layers that you will keep. I had 2 in my last flock of 12 that I called the red headed stepsisters because they were so mean. I have 1 in my current flock of 4 that isn't as mean as the last ones but still not the nicest. Just some food for thought if you're looking at them for layers.

last night in the rain and cold, something like a dog came through my chicken yard and tried to catch me bantam hen that had the chicks. the chicks have most of their feathers and can fly short distances. i heard them screeching last night and all i could find were 5 of them. i found 1 this morning, making 6. i found the hen, but she is traumatized and acts like she doesn't know her babies. i have no clue what im going to do with them if she doesnt take them back. all of my current chicks in the brooder are relatively newborn, less than a week old.

I knew this wasn't going to go smoothly.....I have to call the water dept and get the water turned on today. First I need to go get the water meter number from the property, but we have two. Somehow it's been decided that we won't be using the one next to our mailbox, but the one that is next to the neighbors mailbox -which is on our property. Oh no, I don't see the water company messing this up at all
