I don't know what to say, except that I'm sorry you're not having luck. Miracle, Hope, and Wonder are fine, and they've been allowed to go outside and graze at least once per day since they were just 24 hours old. At first they couldn't get the grass to break without really gnawing the blade for a bit, but now it's so fast I only see "tip-less" plants in their path.Well we have to figure out something. The chicks and ducklings are doing ok but the geese are my favorites and I can't deal with these unexplained deaths. The male we bought is doing good at least.
I also tried to make it a point to sterilize the sh** out of the brooder that I was using for chicks, before I put them in it. Bleach soak and all!
But I've actually made it a point to get them outside and on the ground as soon as possible and as much as possible, to experience what they would with a mother goose. I believe that's how their immunity builds up so well - they are exposed to everything really early.
But keep in mind that CPGs are a Critical Breed on the Conservacy list, so inbreeding is VERY likely with the parents of many of those goslings.
