@GOLDENSEABRIGHT What is the disposition like for Red Jungle Fowl? They look beautiful but I wonder about being attacked when trying to tend them. I currently have 2 buff laced polish boys looking to go elsewhere or get fattened up because of the constant challenging. Do the RJF lay pretty regular for you? I'm guessing they don't get broody too often? Sorry for all of the questions but I am seriously considering building a large pen for some.

Oh they are beautiful boys! One used to fly up onto my back after I had massaged it's throat when it was choking once. That companionship only lasted until breeding age lol. Both boys now hit the wire head first trying to get me...every...single...day. The plan now is to just keep my pullet and any female chicks that may hatch from eggs already set. Her egg laying kept right up with the leghorn so I sold the leghorns to keep the prettier layers. So how about the RJF?
 
Ok, so I mentioned I was doing a final season hatch for my big family reunion. Hatch set date is July 12 and hatch due date will be Aug 2. So, I was looking for some fun eggs to hatch. I will be getting some eggs from Rocky Rhodes and some green egg laying frizzled NN/EE from Dipsy Doodle Doo. But, I was also thinking about ordering eggs from Papa Brooder. But, he lives in California. I know, I know....but his offer is that you choose which breed and how many eggs of each you want! He has 26 breeds. Plus, I was looking for some Silkie eggs and he has some rare Cuckoo Silkies! Really cool. He also has Buff, which is what I want, too. So, my questions are: 1) Have any of you guys ordered eggs from that far away and had success? and 2) Does anyone want to go in with me and split the postage? You could take a look. He has some Blue/Gold Brahmas that I am interested in and Swedish Flowers and Jubilee Orpingtons and some project Lavender Marans all sorts of different ones. Let me know ASAP. Thanks!
 
My Brahma eggs did much better than my CCL eggs. Air cells were loose but not shattered. A few days' rest and the reattached. None made it to hatch, but neither did my own eggs from home so I'm thinking it wasn't him. ;)

Highly recommend.
 
Look who became a mommy today! And after she attacked a chick I tried to sneak in last time, and killed it, I was worried. But she's being a very GOOD mommy! She still has two eggs left. One is pipped, and alive, but no hatch yet. Both are probably behind a day or two because of my delay in marking eggs after she began to sit. So if and when she leaves the nest, I'll bring the others inside to continue hatching and THEN sneak them back out.

Good about Papa Brooder. Any takers on sharing shipping costs?

ok, so I posted my new Swedish Flower chicks on that thread and was told they both may be boys because their crests are already noticeable. I've had other crested breeds and the girls and boys both grew crests at the same rate. In fact, I could almost see the crest on some at hatch and they turned out to be girls. Am I missing something here or are SF different? Please advise.
