Hey carcar.... I just bought a new trap to catch the foxes we're seeing on our cameras.  It is big and has a bait basket that I figure would work well with live bait.... can I borrow one of your chicks?  I promise it'll be safe.

Carcar, are you setting yours tonight or later?  How many eggs are you setting?  Ohhhh, and my broody should hatch hers on Thurs/Fri.  I put them in late so expecting most of them on Friday.  I have no idea if they are ok.  I only candled them at day 10 and haven't looked since.  She is one of my few hens who will bite your hand off if you try to get to her eggs.  Most of my other broodies are sweet and don't mind you looking at her eggs! 

I think I will let them rest tonight and set tomorrow afternoon before I go to work. I ended up with thirteen BCM eggs (14 shipped, just one broken ), plus whatever EE eggs I have by then.

Here are the Marans eggs. Nice shells and I like the color.. Very coppery. I can't see the air cells though :/

..and now to go sanitize my hatcher I broke down and rinsed yesterday before work.. This every-weekend hatching thing is wearing me out! Great practice though.. I'm SOO crossing my fingers that I don't kill the Marans

What do you mean? Is it weird? LOL.. It almost has a pink tint; maybe it has a haze on it because it was so cold outside?

Do some Google work. I asked 3-4 of my backyard breeders in the Barnesville area and no one has even heard of the place. Apparently there's a small farmer's market in Barnesville and from what i can gather they are hobby breeders at best who sell at their farmer's market. Odd's are that list is a bit exaggerated.

NO! I love different colored eggs! I am all about the colored eggs! I commented because I would love to have a tannish egg....it is different from most brown eggs! I would love to get some khaki colored ones, too!
