YO GEORGIANS! :)

How does the department of agriculture know you have chickens?

I'm an Ag inspector for the Dept of Ag. If the AI shows up here we will be given "orders" to locate any backyard flocks within a certain distance from chicken plants and feed mills. Be nice to us we are only doing our jobs and earning an income while trying to protect agriculture commodities. I live in Claxton where chickens are a huge deal. I don't want this happening at all!!

And what would they looking for in the backyard flocks?  Signs of illness?  If our hens are healthy, would our flock be left alone?

From what I understand it would be an "information only" visit. Letting people know what's going on and to be diligent with their flock of they show signs of illness. Aka depopulate if any show signs of it. I don't think we would actually do anything with your birds.

Next years want list is already forming in my head.

Speckled Sussex
Silver laced Polish

I am hoping to hatch Lav Ameraucanas and BCM soon! Then, next year can produce more olive eggers.

I am jealous! I just got CCL and blue Ameraucanas. I was really hoping for BCMs and Lav Ameraucanas. I don't have an incubator so I cant hatch (plus I'm new). Let me know if you ever run across some quality chicks!

ok great news!

Carcar took 24 eggs for me and put in the bator, out of those 24, 13 were Amerauacanas, 1 was a AMxLeghorn cross and the others were AMxAustralorp cross.

She just sent me the hatch info, and out of 24, 22 hatched! the two quitters were AM's.

So KAT, I'll be picking them up tomorrow after lunch, I'll need you to come get yours tomorrow evening if at all possible.

Feathersaloft, do you still want a couple of the remaining AMs?

y'all let me know please

Ack!! Papa, I quoted you a chick over I think. Looking back at my lockdown pic a few pages ago, your eggs were only 23. And if you gave me 13 AM then it was one of your AM that quit before lockdown and I got it mixed in the pile with my own quitters. Sorry. It's been a lot this weekend with the eggs and the chicks :lau

Which makes your official total 21, because this baby is OUT of its shell and looking good!

It had absorbed all yolk.. I put iodine on its belly and put it back to dry. Nice and vocal still. :)

Here is the pic I'm talking about

Your am were up top, then your mixes, then my am. I had just pulled quitters here, sorry again for the confusion.
