YO GEORGIANS! :)

I'd say put them on layer feed. over 16 weeks should be getting layer feed. I have one of my blue ameraucanas still not laying, although it could be that all four of them ARE laying, just not every day. I won't know for sure until I get 4 blue eggs in a day, today is the first day I've gotten 3. Add to that the one that went broody, sat on and hatched out the chicks that are now 3 weeks old. I did take the chicks away from her, and not sure how long until she lays again, so maybe the other 3 are now and she's just not started back yet

but if I were you and thought they are in the 6 to 7 month age range, definitely feed them layer, or all flock and another feeder with oyster shell

They are on layer feed. I am thinking about adding some scratch off and on and add some oyster shell for choice.

scratch is ok as a treat (only) now that the weather is cooling off, don't feed it to them when it's hot weather though. as for the oyster shell, they'll eat it as their bodies tell them they need the extra calcium, certainly won't hurt to make it available to them.

I have read to make scratch an evening snack like afternoons. Is that correct thinking?

I was finally able to get a picture of all four girls together.

Looking at the pics closer they don't look like their faces are really red, red means getting ready to lay

Papa what do you think about the color of their face

Very pretty girls, and I hope they start to lay again for you, could it be that they aren't as old as you thought? and you will get pretty blue eggs

Pretty girls, but they aren't as 'red faced' as they need to be before they are ready to lay. Don't put too much into age! Take humans, for example, not every girl will 'start' at age 13! LOL

That's why I love this page. Being new to chickens as an adult (you don't worry about or pay attention to all this as a kid) I have learned and continue to learn A LOT from y'all!

Pretty darn red! Don't think it will be much longer. Do CCL not have wattles? I have a couple of pullets (not legbars), that have been red in the face, but fairly little wattles. Been seeing them get on and off the nest , and finally got an egg from one of them today. Yippee! Good luck with your CCL

May be a stupid question, but what's a wattle? Like in their walk? Kind of like how a woman says she feels like she is waddling?
