YO GEORGIANS! :)

Oh- and of seven SL Cochin eggs I got last week, ONE is developing. :( This time, unlike with BCM, I'll recognize on the first sign that I'm not meant to have SL Cochins. :lau

Usually the temp starts at 95 the first week, and goes down 5 degrees a week.
I do have a heat lamp with my 6 week olds, but only in a corner of their area. They can choose to go under it or not.
When it is really cold, I still find them there, and expect with this weekend's cold, they will probably choose to be under it.

Got my first water bottle set up with a nipple for the little guys. Got a pack of 36 nipples arriving Monday from Ebay, so we can set up waterers in each section of the building.
Still not sure about freezing temps though.
Thank you feathers!

I will get them set up with a heat lamp and go from there.

Found some babies in Blairsville from Market Bulletin...seems to be a nice fella.

Oh no! Wasn't that why you got rid of the Ameraucanas?
Maybe try buying chicks first round, then hatching your own eggs so you have more control over them?

Ive got some females that are 5 weeks old. Also have some new babies hatching tomorrow if you are interested. May have a guy who would buy your males (he eats them though) I sold this guy 40 hatching eggs and he only hatched one. I told DH that this guy didn't have a clue about hatching. When I talked to him, he said he STARTED his humidity at 65%!!! I told him a hundred times what to set his machine at but he followed the directions on the incubator box and filled up the water wells at the bottom! And with all the rain, well, just too much humidity. No wonder they didn't hatch! I'm surprised he got one to hatch!

Becky,
If I could just come up with a good reason to head in your direction... The ones we got from you are doing great (except of course the ones that had accidents).
All the others are locked up in the building, hoping the pen gets built this weekend so they can get outside!
I really want a few more of the SFH, love their looks and attitudes. But those were the ones that got in trouble.

I heard about a swap day in Freehome GA tomorrow and am thinking about it. I could take these cute little ones, and a couple spare boys maybe.

Yes that was the reason.. BUT, after you got my AM I took my one barred rock and the blue yen from Becky and threw them in with the Brahmas. Even with that change the BR never missed a DAY of laying!! That got me thinking.. Cochin will go broody a LOT and both my other breeds I already have (Brahma and d'Uccle) will as well. Rocks, not nearly as much. So it's all good. Hopefully I'll have better luck with these eggs. :)
