YO GEORGIANS! :)

I'm staking out tonight in the back of a truck with my brother. We're going to set steel traps and live traps too!!!

Heya folks! Sorry I've been MIA. Deja has Cushings, been raising kittens and playing with snakes.

A friend of mine is looking for a silkie hen. Does anyone have one for sale?

If so, please PM me.

So, last night, I was taking my dogs out and my chickens were flipping out. It was about eleven so it was pitch black and my only light was a small headlight. By the time I put my dogs up and got to my chickens, my male Rouen duck's head was completely torn off. I'm guessing a raccoon pulled his head through the wire and ripped it off then ran with it. When I woke up this morning my Araucana was torn in half and feathers where everywhere. I guess tonight I'm staying up with my 22 and waiting for that murderer. I'm not burrying half of another one of my chickens or ducks!!!

Hope you were able to catch it last night!
yeah I had to block mine off completely to get them out of the habit. Once they stopped for a couple weeks, I opened them back up and now that's my sign if one wants to go broody. Speaking of which, 3 weeks ago I had the two (ameraucana) try to go broody on me and I isolated them to break them. I haven't had a blue egg since then. 4 AMs, only two tried to go broody, but no blue eggs. Guess they talk about me behind my back.....

I'm waiting for the ones I got from CarCar to start laying again. I guess they don't like the old pen, after starting in the new one. But their roo wouldn't back down, and wasn't winning, so I moved them to their own pen and house. Ever since, not a single egg. They have the same feed, supplemental lights, and plenty of room. I did have to clip wings, since all the hens were jumping out during the day, then back in at night.

My brother was out almost all night waiting for that critter to come back for more chickens and it didn't show up. I still have all my chickens this morning too.

It's quiet in here lol

Yep...pretty quiet...I have been trying to figure out what chicks I want for this next year. I like what I'm hearing about the golden comet as egg layers. I'm wondering if I could get a "good" RIR roo to cover a few "good" RI white hens and breed my own golden comets...anyone doing this...? Also considering ISA browns for egg layers.
